So today I was rushing to finish an important work email late at night. I was multitasking and trying to get it done before a deadline. The email was meant for my boss and included some detailed updates about a project, but also a few complaints about some coworkers and the challenges I’ve been facing. Somehow, instead of sending it to my boss, I sent the email to my entire family group chat. Now, my parents, siblings, and even some distant relatives have read things I definitely did not want them to see. I’m worried about how this will affect my relationships with my family and how my boss will react when I tell them what happened. I feel super embarrassed and stressed out right now. Has anyone else ever sent something meant for work or private eyes to the wrong people? How did you handle it without making things worse? I’m really hoping for some advice or just to know I’m not alone.
TL;DR: Sent a work email with complaints about coworkers to my entire family by mistake and now I’m freaking out about the fallout.

Why would there be fall out with your family over issues you have with coworkers? Are members of your family coworkers? Honestly the reverse would be more terrifying for me.
Are you afraid the family HR rep will reprimand you? There don’t seem to be any real issues going on here
What would you be saying to your boss that you couldn’t tell your family?
Why do you have to tell your boss what happened? Is he your dad?
Why tell your boss? That seems unnecessary.
I doubt your family will even read the message, so I wouldn’t worry about that. You could send them a message saying please disregard but that’s most likely going to draw more attention to something most would have ignored otherwise
Seems like a non issue to me.
….huh?
