TIFU by being dyslexic

r/

I’m not really dyslexic, just stupid, probably. Majorly.

Yeah I fucked up. I’m fucked. Fuck!

I got a phone call from work asking if I come in today. Turns out I misread my schedule and got mine confused with a co-workers. The reason I fucked up is because I haven’t had a lick of sleep for a good 18 hours only having has a 20 minute nap. I stayed up writing and thought I’d be able to get a good six hours in but nope. Wish me luck.

And it’s going to be a busier shift because of the holiday weekend. Plus, I have an hour commute.

On a side note, I feel really bad about being late. I mean it was only an hour and I don’t have to clock in, but it’s not helping my anxiety. I didn’t get a chance to eat and with everything I feel like I’m going to vomit. The no sleep part is probably exacerbating it too.

Tl;DR: I can’t read and now I have to go to work having not slept in almost 20 hours.

Ask your manager about the situation and if you can work on your day off next week instead to make up, instead of coming into work today.

OP. Get yourself sorted out. Sleep is the absolute best medicine for almost every ailment. Fuck, it’s even free!

I know FOMO is real, but get tough with yourself, do it early in your life, and your waking life will improve incredibly.

I watch loved ones and coworkers stumble from crisis to catastrophe, all the while mumbling about lack of sleep.

Sleep deprivation is horrible, and it can strike at really inopportune moments, like that one-hour drive you made. I’m thankful it was uneventful, but please sort this out!

Highly recommend reading James Maas (dec) “Power Sleep”

Lesson learned and sounds like you got this. Drink some coffee or something and watch your temper since you are tired. You don’t want to make mistakes . Eat something, too. Good luck.
