TIFU by being too security conscious

r/

About a year ago when I moved into my rental, I noticed most of the windows could be trivially acceded from the outside, and as such I reset the gauze exteriors so they couldn’t be easily removed from, outside, and the ones I couldn’t do that to, I Nailed stoppers such that you can’t slide the window more than 15cm open. I also got the landlord to put in proper locks as the old ones were the cartoonish old style ones that are trivial to open with any old bit of metal. That is to say, you need either a key, lockpicking skills, pr willingmess to cause damage to break into my house.

Today at work I forgot to grab my jumper, which happened to have my house keys. I pf course didn’t notice the issue because my car is currently being repaired after getting rear-ended, so my house keys are not the same set as the keys for my borrowed car, I realised this about 10minutes before close, called everyone on shift, but all 5 went to voicemail. Work is now closed for the next 10hours, and while I have the ability to break in there, I definitely don’t have the authority to.

TL;DR fixed security issues in rental house, left keys at work, can’t get into house, can’t legally get into work
