so, this all started yesterday. i worked at an ice cream shop for the last two years of high school and came back for the summer after my freshman year of college. yesterday i had a 7 hour shift, a main part of the job is hauling 50ish pound buckets of ice cream from the deep freezer to the staging freezer in the front, and then hauling them into the open freezer we scoop out of when needed.

an important thing to note is most of the exercise i get is from taking my dog for walks, i don’t do any weight training or anything like that. by the time i finished my shift i was extremely sore and immediately fell asleep as soon as i got home. when woke up the next morning, i noticed my inner thigh near my pelvis was a little sore. but it was the kind of sore where you could barely notice it so i just ignored it. through the day, it began to hurt worse and worse. it go to the point where i was limping around the house and needed to use the couch arms to help me stand up and take the stairs one stair at a time. i finally decided to google my symptoms because i truly had no idea what was going on.

turns out i strained my groin. yes, it’s called a groin tear/pull/strain/etc. its most common in soccer/hockey/football players and gymnasts but it can also happen if you don’t stretch accordingly before performing strenuous tasks on your muscles. i am now currently in bed, icing my groin, with my leg elevated as my mom laughs as me from the next room.

TL;DR: i strained my groin because i didn’t stretch before lifting 50 lb buckets of ice cream after losing some muscle because i was away at college.

    Those ice cream buckets are no joke, your body just wasn’t ready for a surprise workout. Groin strain sucks but it happens. Rest, ice and make your mom bring you snacks if she’s gonna laugh.

    Especially the legs.
