Today I was cleaning, answering messages like doing all these stuff at the same time and somewhere in the middle of it I threw something in the oven and then completely forgot. Left the house for what I thought would be a quick errand and got totally lost. In the middle of it I remembered that I left my oven on and rushed to my apartment, but unfortunately it was too late.
I came back to a congratulations steak and I had to open every window in my apartment. The worst part is that the errand wasn’t even essential cuz I could’ve easily done it another time, I just got in a spontaneous mood and thought why not do it now. Half of the responsibility goes to grizzlysquest cuz I hit like 3k rolling slots in there the night before and I was in a very very happy mood throughout the day lmao. Anyways lesson learned, don’t ever go out before the oven gives you the done beep
TLDR; I forgot my oven on and went out

Please get medicated for adhd. Your neighbors will thank you
Yikes! So glad that it wasn’t as bad as it could have been! Thank goodness you remembered when you did!
I had to google what a congratulations steak was and now I am hollering! LMAO I love that.
Accidents happened but this could have turned terribly wrong. This is important and you should note for next time can’t happen again.
Could have been much worse, all things considered!
Glad you learned a lesson from it and it was only a burned meal. Also not a good idea to start a clothes dryer and leave. Always possible that lint catches fire when you least expect it.
LPT if you ever forget something in the oven, and you know it’s burned to shit, just turn the oven off and leave it overnight. That should prevent the majority of the smoke and burnt smell from escaping the oven.
Source: I once cooked a frozen pizza for over an hour in my apartment and used this trick. No smoke or smell at all. It looked like a pizza-shaped charcoal brick the next day when I took it out 😂
While it’s nice to get many things done at one time, the one area this often leads to disaster is while cooking. Don’t multi-task while cooking. We had a former tenant burn down part of our house because they put on oil to fry something and ended up forgetting and mowing the lawn instead. Just stick to the task at hand while fire is involved
Bad mis-steak
I thought “congratulations” here was an autocorrect for “(turned to) charcoal” or “carbonized”…
Did your house burn down?
Ugh my version of this happened yesterday.
I keep hearing a funny noise in the house like a dripping or something. I keep stopping opening the window hearing birds chirping and then go back to my chair but it does not stop. Finally after a long time I go to the back stairs and it is louder then I go downstairs and it is louder. I look in the downstairs bathroom and the sink is overflowing on the floor and the tap is still a bit open and flowing bit.
I had used the bathroom about 3 or 4 hours before and some way some how had not totally shut off the tap.
What a mess. (Forehead slap)
I left a corned beef simmering on the stove one time when I went out to run an errand. Well, my stove went berserk and heated it up to boiling, and all the water boiled out, and it smoked up my apartment and set off the smoke alarm. When I get home, my landlord is in my apartment with the fire department. Oops.
That’s why I always set a timer
‘I came back to a congratulations steak’ 😂😂😂
Omg I’m dying.
Please do not leave your oven on, I had to evacuate my apartment during final exam preps because someone did that and fluked the exam because of being so tired the next day… it’s also dangerous
I have. TBI and sometimes I just .. forget.
A smart stove was an amazing investment for me. Everything, including the eyes, can be set with a timer and auto off or turned off remotely. I feel much safer.
PSA to everyone, never leave your house when cooking anything, unless it’s in a slow cooker…
Time to get checked for ADD.
