Had a long day and accidentally forgot to add water to my microwavable ramen. Basically, it was the kind that comes in a cardboard bowl and you just have to add water and put in the microwave for 4 minutes. So yeah, I basically put cardboard and uncooked noodles in the microwave for 4 minutes.
To make things worse, I use a plastic microwave cover lid (highly recommend by the way) which is supposed to prevent your food from splattering on the walls of the microwave. Mine ended up melting a fusing unto my ramen bowl. I’m gonna add pictures of this on my profile cause it’s hard to explain lol
I don’t think an actual fire happened, it just was so hot the plastic melted. To make things worse, this was the last ramen left so I’m going to bed hungry.
TL;DR: almost set my house on fire because I didn’t add water to my ramen.

A mistake you only make once. I did it once with a microwave flavored rice thing. I made black rice which was at least interesting, but also scary.
It’s ok, I did the exact same thing a few days ago with some instant oatmeal and completely ruined my bowl.
There’s gotta be one that’s made from something other than plastic.
The way plastics get soft or brittle sketches me out even if it says “microwave safe”. But it is a cool accessory.
Oldest of 5 siblings. It was a rite of passage that each one of us forgot to put water in microwave ramen.
Congratulations, welcome to my family.
I just microwaved my leftovers from a restaurant. The plastic container was so thin that it took 3 hands to keep it closed. I don’t have to worry about microplastics, I’m eating microplastics

This should be on the Well that sucks sub 😒 😆
One of my college buddies did this. We had to evacuate our dorm.
He later (briefly) wound up on Worst Cooks in America.
I did that one time 🤣
I think we’ve all done it, or at least gotten close. I hope your next meal goes better!!
You aren’t the first person to do this and you won’t be the last. This was so common in college dorms we had multiple lectures just on remembering to add water to microwavable items.
I did that when I was 5. I was so afraid of my mom finding out.
