Obligatory – a few months ago.

I had these massive abdominal pains one day. It started as a mild discomfort and kept intensifying over the span of about 30 minutes. To the point where I had to lay down in bed.

At one point the pain got so intense, that I struggled to breathe and I was minutes away from calling an ambulance. My entire abdomen was distended and stiff as a board, and I was kinda huffing for breath. I thought my appendix had ruptured or something. A few minutes later, the pain subsided.

For reference, I’ve had spinal surgery twice, so I know what real, actual acute pain is. 🙂

What was so strange about this was that after the pain was gone, it had disappeared completely. I’ve had other gastrointestinal distresses in the past, but when the primary pain subsides, a soreness typically sticks around for a spell.

This happened one more time, to a lesser extent, before I decided I should see a doctor.

Before that appointment: I finish my lunch and decide it’s time for a nice lil nap. I head to bed and chug down that last half of the glass of water always on my bed stand. 30-45 minutes later or so, I head back down to my office to catch up on some work. Within about a half an hour, my gut starts feeling weird. Ten minutes later, I’m almost hunched over walking up the stairs back to bed. It was back again.

It subsided shortly after and when I grabbed my glass off the night stand to get more water I saw it. My glass had been half filled with water and there was a film on the sides of the glass.

It was then that I realized that while I always have a glass of water on my night stand, I could not remember the last time I washed, or replaced the glass. In hindsight, it’s such a stupid thing. But I filled it with fresh water every day right?!?!

TLDR: Fresh water daily in a glass not washed is not fresh water. lmao
