TIFU by letting a random person take over my housing search

r/

yeah i’m kinda stupid for this… i let a potential roommate take over the apartment search temporarily because work was so busy. we ended up on a great spot that we were looking at, but it was difficult to tour the place, so my genius former potential roommate decided to contact the agents directly responsible for listing the place when i was in contact with another realtor. WE NOW HAVE TWO REALTORS. i haven’t told anyone. i’m scared of the consequences. i’m so cooked and don’t know what to do if this is going to fuck up our housing search. what the hell is going to happen with the broker fee? i have no idea. life is great isn’t it. does anyone know what’ll happen if there are two realtors for one place???

TL;DR a former potential roommate contacted another realtor. we now have two realtors. don’t know what’s going to happen

Did either of you sign a contract with a realtor?

Post this in the real estate sub Reddit.

Honesty is the best policy. Be honest with your house mate and be honest with both realtors.

Either they will team up and split the commission or one will take a referral fee (percentage of the representing agents commission) for walking away. Or one might just walk away and let the other agent take over.

Just be honest. The more you prolong it the worse it will be and the more upset everyone will be.
