I am currently in the hospital for some neurological symptoms. They want to keep me until they can get a brain MRI which will not be until tomorrow. So, I’m on the floor, I’ve got an IV, blood pressure cuff, pulse ox, 12-lead EKG, you know, the works. Trying to sleep away from home makes me anxious, and so I vaped a little medicine to help me. The issue was, my heart rate shot up from 63-69BPM (nice) to almost 90BPM. So, after seeing my chapped lips and knowing I hadn’t drank anything in 12 hours, the doctor assumed the tachycardia was from dehydration and ordered fluids.
So, the nurse knocks on the door and I have to hide my vape under the covers. My heart rate shot up from 90BPM to 123BPM. The nurse came in, looked at my heart monitor, looked at me, looked at the monitor, looked at me, and said, “the doc ordered some fluids.”
So she comes over to my left side to hook up the IV, and I realize my pen is sticking out a bit, so I had to adjust the blanket.
She left without saying a word, but I knew what she thought, and I genuinely wished she would have just seen the dab pen, because there’s a slim chance that she might have been okay with it.
TL;DR: My reaction to almost getting caught vaping marijuana made my nurse totally think that I was jerking off. I honestly wish she would have just caught me with the dab pen.
