TIFU, actually years ago. I was planning an anniversary trip to Sea World and I wanted to surprise my wife with Dinner With Shamu, which, you might guess meant a sit down dinner next to the backstage tanks for the orcas. The online process was a bit complicated but I thought I got everything right including the dinner with online park tickets.
Whoops! Somehow I got the dinner reservations for the wrong date! We arrived and got our tickets and had a great time exploring the park and then I sprang the surprise and we went to the proper location with my printed tickets only to be told I had selected the wrong month.
Sea World employees called their manager while I stood, embarrassed and felt like a fool and they then found a small table and two chairs and treated us like visiting royalty! We enjoyed the buffet dinner and are feet away from the huge tank while they had a special presentation and the orcas came to visit! When I checked my accounts later, I never even got charged for the whole event, only the original park tickets.
I guess, sometimes, mistakes have golden outcomes.
TLDR. I goofed up anniversary reservations to have Dinner With Shamu but ended up getting the best experience for free.
