Time to call a lawyer?

A month ago we had a furnace and AC unit (standalone unit out back, not a window unit) new install. We paid in full $12k.

A week after the install we had to have the company come back out bc the AC unit was not cooling properly.

A week after that, it froze over continually and we had to get it serviced again

Now, a month later we are having issues with the unit shortcycling and not cooling. The tech that arrived today pretended it was my fault for not cleaning the minimal plant matter off the wraparound filter of the unit. After cleaning, it was still short cycling. Then he said it needs a part completely replaced, and if that doesnt work its the compressor itself.

Im extremely frustrated because each “service” takes multiple visits off. I am losing pto and my patience.

We have not had to pay for these repairs as we have a warranty. But now the company wants to start taking parts out of the new unit and install a filter drier on the outside of the unit. Im at the point where if a brand new unit doesnt work, I want it replaced or i want a refund.

Is it time to call a lawyer, or what do i need before I call? TIA.
