Have you tried any breathing techniques? There are videos on-line available for free that might be helpful. I used to have a couple CD of guided breathing techniques I’d use. I’d put headphone on and lay down.

I hear you. You makes sense. Severe pain is or can be completely disabling. It’s difficult to do anything including think clearly.

A lot of my joint pain comes from inflammation. Switched to a keto diet and poof! Pain gone.

    Two things.

Proper medical marijuana. By proper I mean as cleanly grown and possible, preferably Certified Kind. As high a terpine percentage as you can find.

Realise the pain is telling you things. Get that sorted, then realise that anything past that info is noise. Ignore the noise.

There are pain clinics that specialize in this. There is meditation, acupuncture and other options. As the other commenter said medical marijuana works wonders. I’m a nurse and many patients choose it over narcotics.

I’ve had migraines since I was a kid. I see a specialist and don’t use narcotics. I tried CBD, weed, and have a non narcotic medication I can use (and am on a preventative treatment plan) but still rely on other options to work through the pain.

My favorite is guided imagery. I also use grounding techniques and deep breathing. I write (blog, journal), color, and if it’s a really bad day, I watch TV that will make me laugh or is absolutely mindless.

Sending positive vibes your way 🌻

I have been really lucky the only time I have had severe physical pain was with an anal fissure and sitting on a heating pad was a lifesaver. I use heat a lot for aches and pain, it’s surprisingly effective and helps me stay off any medications.

    Try Cannabis.

(Tldr if you can’t think right now: a doctor literally prescribed me watching funny animal videos 😃, so just turn them on right now)

The only thing that works for me is working on finding drug/device/heat/cold solutions that ease pain and then knowing I have them to use if it gets too bad.

This helps your brain not freak out because you know there is a way out, or at least a way to make it tolerable. Then every incidence of pain becomes a predictable pattern that you know how to work through.

But don’t wait too long, it is important to treat pain because your brain can grab onto it and learn to feel it more and more (Central sensitization). Do not ignore it to the point of not addressing it.

Address it, treat it to the best of your ability, and then distract away from the remaining pain (podcasts, music, funny animal videos, chanting etc, whatever you find works for you)

    Acupuncture from a licensed practitioner.
