I’m (31 F) & my partner (35 M) is out of town for a few weeks. We’ve been together for about 3 years and have lived together for about 2. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always hated sleeping home alone. Not necessarily sleeping in the bed alone but just being asleep in a house that no one else is. I feel very unsafe & unable to control my anxiety over it. My fears usually revolve around someone coming into my home to harm me while I’m asleep and not being able to defend myself. I do all the calming things, like taking a bath and watching comfort shows but it just doesn’t seem to help & it seems silly that as an adult I’m afraid to sleep alone so I don’t ask people to come stay with me. Does anyone have any tips or tricks that you’ve found that help you when your spouse is out of town?
TL;DR I’m scared home alone & want to know what helps you.

Have a loaded gun in your nightstand, helped me lol
Get a dog trained to bark if an unknown person tried to enter your house.
Pets. Pets definitely help me with that alone feeling.
