I know this community is for women, but I’ve made the mistake of trying to bring up the fact that men are generally treated better than women in society on reddit of all places. The results were… Not much of a surprise.
So, I used to live as a woman for most of my life and one of the things that bothered me a lot were my attempts at befriending men without being sexually desired. It didn’t work. I even had the trauma of having a man from my family expressing attraction towards me. Luckily, nothing worse happened.
Now? Well, I feel like people aren’t treating me as much like a baby and I’m also not getting unwanted sexual attention anymore. Saying that this changed is, apparently, offensive to some people.
Oh well…

Reddit is especially bad for misogyny but in general it’s been bad and getting worse.
Im a cis woman and i actually havent encountered a lot of interpersonal sexism. I think some people who deny it just dont believe people who arent them can be reliable narrators of their own experiences because it doesnt match what they have experienced. Which is nuts to me, because i have no reason to disbelieve that society generally sees women as less deserving of respect. I also have no reason to disbelieve individuals who have particularly egregious examples of it.
Its also why, on a slightly related note, i think a lot of white people think society is “post racial.” They dont see it, so how could it exist?
Any man who complains about misandry whenever a woman speaks out about misogyny is telling on themself. They take it personally as if it’s a direct accusation on their own character. I don’t get offended by generalizations that don’t apply to me because I know I’m not part of the problem. Why would they assume it’s a personal attack unless it does indeed apply to them?
I agree it’s super weird that no men will admit that men have it better than women. I think they want to believe men are in their positions based on merit and they too are better than 50% of the population (women) even if they’re the worst man.
