[TOMT] A show from my childhood that also had a game

So I really don’t know or remember anything about this show specific but I remember playing the game and the characters used these small creatures that kinda acted like pokemon(?) and in the game you could feed them and fight with them.
I recently brought this up to a friend and she said she also remembers this show and she described the small creatures as being alike to beans with different things on them(the creature of the MC was orange with lighting on it) and something about the underground being important.Neither of us can remember or find it anywhere 😭.
