Similar to Raffi, Wee Sing, Psalty, etc. Approximately 10-14 tracks total.
I always thought was Debby Boone or Amy Grant? But googling isn’t getting any hits…
Might be religious but does contain secular songs.
100% possible that it was similar to a “Talking Storybook” or Disney “Book and Tape Set”… but I only had the tape.
I had several book and tape/record sets, but the exact tape I’m looking for was some sort of compilation or greatest hits “album”–it was like an omnibus of unusual/classic children’s songs.
As the oldest child in my very large family, we got a ton of hand-me-downs so it might be older than me but possibly as recent at 1993. So…total time frame is about 10 years: 1983?-1993.
One female singer. Definitely solo, I do not remember any back up singers (kids or otherwise). I recall “music” (drums, guitar, bass) and possibly sound effects like the clip-clopping of hooves or similar animal “sounds”.
Track listing 100% certainly includes:
Little Bunny Foo Foo Oats and Beans and Barley Swingin’ on a Star She’ll Be Comin’ Round the Mountain
I pride myself in being an internet sleuth, but I cannot figure this out and I am running out of time!
20 years ago, I reappropriated the “same” brown Fisher Price tape player I had aa a kid from the $1 table at a local garage sale–my youngest (and last) child is 4yo and SOO musically inclined. I would love to buy this tape on eBay and sing along with her!
I hope this is enough to jog some old memories! I welcome any/all clarifying questions and will promptly answer them to the best of my ability.
Please help, thank you!

One of the Disney Children’s Favorite’s cassettes? They rereleased them a few different times with the same track listing but different artwork. My family had one from the mid 90s that came with a white tape and an orange book but my husbands family had one from the 80s with a white and yellow tape and a yellow book that was the same track listing.
Could it have been one of the “Wee Sing” compilations? They’ve been around for ages, and some did come with books. The link takes you to the discography, and you can listen to see if that sounds right.
Oh I feel like I have to help you solve this, you’ve definitely unlocked a bit of a memory.
I live in New Zealand but have American relatives so may have sent the tape.
I remember having a book on tape of the Little Bunny Foofoo song, I don’t recall if it had other songs but those songs are all familiar too.
It may have been part of a Golden Book series but I don’t think so? Definitely early 90s was when I would have had it, and yes, definitely a female singer.
I’ll have a dig around the net and see if I can figure more of it out, I wouldn’t be surprised if we are both thinking of the same tape!
