[TOMT] children’s Book about a girl and a mysterious house in the woods

r/

Hi all!
There is a book my teacher read to my elementary class. I was absent a lot and only got bits and pieces of the story, and coupled with years gone by, I can’t recall much. It’s a fictional story that isn’t outright fantasy but talks about witchcraft, voodoo, and auras. It’s also pretty Halloweeny with the start of the conflict (as far as I recall) was during trick or treating.
Here’s what I recall: it was the story of a young girl ( I believe) in a town near the woods. She had a friend who was a girl but was a bit of a tomboy and had a unique-ish name (Puck, or Paz, something more gender neutral with a P, but I think it was a nickname) and this friend had a little sister who would butt heads with the friend. The sister also had a stuffed animal of a cat (I think) and it was incredibly important to her. The main character, her friend, go trick or treating with the friend bringing the stuffed animal as part of her costume (or the sister came with her I don’t recall) , and go into the woods where a creepy house is to knock on the door. The house is the catalyst of the whole story and is rumored to be owned by a witch or haunted (spooky house in the woods type) and during their trick or treating, something happens that leads to the friend’s little sister losing her stuffed animal.
The main character then begins to uncover the mysterys of the house and finds a little girl lives there who now has the stuffed animal. All the while her friend begins to pull away from the main character and they fight ( I believe the main character calls the friend her full name as a jab) and the little sister uses a voodoo doll of the friend as revenge for losing the stuffed animal. The main character has to unravel the mystery of the house while also learning of the young girl in the house and the turmoil of friendship.
That’s all I really remember, and I don’t even know how it ends. I also remember there was a guy that would comment on the main character’s aura but I don’t remember his significance (possibly advice to the main character but I really don’t remember). Anyway I hope this is enough to at least get the gears turning. Thank you for any help you can give!

Is it Jennifer, Hecate, Macbeth, William McKinley, and Me, Elizabeth by E.L. Konigsburg? It’s been almost 40 years since I read it, but it sounds right.
