[TOMT] Movie. Maybe early 90s. Someone reads someone to sleep and winds down the story with “and I think you are asleep…”

This is so vague, I know, but I can’t stop thinking about this scene from a movie. I know this is a movie I’ve seen a lot but I just can’t connect this scene to whatever it is. It’s probably from the 90s. The main character (can’t remember a thing about them; even gender) is reading or telling a bedtime story to a person lying in bed. I thought it was a child but the more I’ve thought about it I’m not sure; it could also be an adult who is ill or in bed for some other reason. The person in bed closes their eyes and the character sort of makes sure that they are really sleeping by winding down the story with “and, I think you are asleep” kind of saying it in a singsong way, and in the same cadence they’d been using to tell the story.

I think maybe the main character was not the person’s parent or regular caregiver. I don’t have any actors I imagine in the role more than any others except Winona Ryder. Could it be Jo, reading to Amy or a sick parent? I can’t find it if so.

It’s in Little Women 1994 where Jo’s reading to her elderly aunt

I believe it was Little Women with Winona Ryder. I remembered the scene as soon as I read the line. Jo was reading to Aunt March who had just dozed off. I’ve always loved the way she said the line.

I have a vague memory of Adam Sandler saying this in a movie, or maybe Tim Allen in the first Santa Clause movie when he’s reading to Charlie?
