[TOMT] Movie where someone is given a mundane task to clear their brain so that the answer will come to them

I think this is a movie but it could be a book. Someone is trying to figure something out and someone gives them a mundane mindless assignment like alphabetizing or something in the hopes that it will clear their brain and they’ll be able to figure out the answer.
