[TOMT] Story/description from reddit about what it is like to try heroin

r/

There was a really well written anecdote here (not spontaneousH’s story) about what it is like to try heroin that starts making it sound great but then quickly gets more and more terrifying as the addiction sets in. Some key paraphrased lines from it were
“it’s like an angel wraps it’s wings around you and lifts a weight off your shoulders you never knew existed”
“it’s 10 bucks at first and you think oh for a whole weekend of fun that’s pretty inexpensive”
“but then suddenly 10 bucks doesn’t get you as much as it did, you need five times that to barely feel a pale comparison of what you felt before”

Weird, I was thinking about this post recently as well. I remember at one point the person said that at the beginning of their addiction they said to themself “I’ll only do heroin on the weekends.” Does that sound familiar to you as well? Just want to make sure I’m searching for the right post.

This probs isn’t it, but just in case, there’s a comment by r/colleym on a thread about what heroin feels like that say this: “It’s a warm blanket. A blanket of comfort that covers your whole body. You’re mind, you’re spirit, you’re body, all covered up with this feeling of “everything is right, no harm can be done.” The virtue of peace is found for a few hours, then slowly fades as the heroin starts to wear off. The whole time you are level headed with not a care in the world. Like a full body massage from the inside out. Simply put heroin feels great. It’s pretty fucking amazing. But all debts must be paid. There is no such thing as a “one – time only charge”. Think of it like this; going to the beach. Yea it’s awesome, feels great, and your happy. That’s doing heroin in a nutshell. But when your not high you might as well be floating in the middle of the ocean by yourself. This is being sober and sick with no money to your name and in debt past your eyes. It can be fucking terrifying, it can be eye opening, it could be death…… Heroin is not black and white like everyone was taught. There are many people out there who hold jobs like doctors and lawyers who do heroin, and you would never know. Doing heroin is opening pandora’s box, going down the rabbit hole, and if your lucky being able to climb out.”
