I’m posting this after watching Blameitonjorge’s new video about lost ads. I’d like to post mine because I’ve searched for it over the years.
I remember an ad that aired in the UK that was an anti-smoking ad. It shows some scenes of a smoker, and cuts to scenes of a fissure ripping through the earth, getting closer to him, eventually he’s smoking near a bus stop at the end and the fissure reaches him, and I think he gasps as it cuts to black. I guess it’s supposed to be a commentary about how death is always chasing you as a smoker.
It scared the hell out of me as a kid because my great-grandma was a chain smoker, it would make me cry every time I saw it, my family told me at the time that they’d written to the broadcasting company and gotten it pulled which I doubt, but I never did see it after that and it wasnt on the air for very long, I saw it maybe 3 times. Since we only had freeview back then before the freeview expansion it would’ve had to be on ITV1, channel 4 or channel 5, and I’d guess ITV1 because it would be the most likely channel to be on in the background of a room. I also remember being pretty young, maybe 5-8, so it must’ve been around 2003-2006 but I’m leaning towards 2005.
Even if you can’t help find it, PLEASE post if you remember it, I wanna see if anyone shares this experience with me!!
