I recall the main character being a girl, who transfers to a new school and due to a mispronunciation of her name or something, is mistaken for a boy and decides to maintain the male identity. She creates superhero comic/stories inspired by her experiences, joins a boys-only club – I remember the initiation for that involving climbing and hanging from a branch of a tree overhanging a cliff. The clubs ‘leader’ eventually becomes antagonistic inspiring her to depict him as the villain in her stories.
Couldn’t have been newer than 2007-2008. I also think I remember her having a skateboard, and the cover being green or yellow. Any help appreciated!

I think I also remember her name starting with J perhaps or that being in the title words. Her name was easily mistaken for a boys (John instead of Joan)
