There was this old black and white (or maybe colored, but it was very old). But anyways, I remember at the end of the movie one of the main characters (or main character?) was drunk and I think alone in a church or something. He was mumbling things, and I recall my mom telling me that the actor had to be dubbed over by somebody else because the original actor’s voice in that scene was too intelligible or something. Or maybe the actor got sick or died after filming and was unable to dub over himself? Either way, I swear I remember this being a thing. Can anybody help??

James Dean in Giant (1956)
The character is drunk in the scene, but James Dean oversold it and mumbled too much to the point where you couldn’t understand him. It was the final scene filmed before he died in a car accident a few days later so they dubbed some of it with another voice actor
Here’s the scene in question: https://youtu.be/AVMJ9WOLfd8?si=UX5oYzS_vh90KnSX
In Plan 9 from Outer Space, Bela Lugosi was replaced as he had died before they finished the movie. The chiropractor (not actor) who replaced him, Tom Mason, stood in for him in the rest of the film with his cape over his face to hide it.
