Hello Europeans, I was just wondering if any of you all have visited any part of America before. What did you think of it? Did you see any cool sights? Would you go back? Thanks for any replies!

I have been to New York, Seattle, and a good chunk of Florida. I also lived there for a while as a child. I did enjoy it (especially Seattle) but don’t think I’ll go back for a good long while.
I’ve been to New York, Florida, LA, Las Vegas, San Fransico and saw the redwood forest.
I would go back to see the big trees with my kid, but not as long as orange man and his fascist friends are in charge, I don’t think it is safe.
I did not like Las Vegas and I will never go back. The gambling, the loud environment, not for me.
San Fransico was also nice and I would include it if we ever were to go back.
I have seen a little,not much.
I travel a lot but very rarely in the US.
The reasons? Firstly, there are many other places that have much more interesting historical sites and things that interest me.
Secondly, the US is pretty expensive, and I’m mostly a low budget traveller.
I also like using public transport when I travel, and the US is not good at all for that, maybe the worst country in the world to travel in without your own (or rented) car.
I did like NYC though. And the public transport is good there!
My partner was planning to go to Chicago this year, but she cancelled because of Trump.I think this will be a very common reaction, particularly amongst Canadians and Western Europeans.
I have been to miami. It was nice, but it was with family and they chose miami, I would’ve chosen a different place. I was actually planning to do a 3 month road trip through the states with my SO, but with the current political climate there we have changed our plans and are going to Asia instead.
Have been to New York to visit friends. It was nice and I would love to go back some time, just not within the next four years.
I’ve been to NY and a few other places on the east coast. I’d like to see the national parks etc on the west coast, too, but I’m not going anywhere near the US as long as it’s on the current fast track to a fascist dictatorship.
I live here now and I’m trying to tick off most of the cool sights in the Western US before my contract ends.
My favourite area so far is the area around northern Arizona/Southern Utah. There’s so much amazing stuff to see around there. Also the Hoh rainforest near Seattle.
It’s a shame you guys tend to have really ugly large cities for the most part (especially when the most beautiful parts are allowed to fall into ruin).
The USA has remarkable natural sights, most of which are accessible only by road vehicles. You can’t catch a comfortable train to visit Yellowstone or Grand Canyon. I spent a month touring the Midwest in 1999. It was interesting in a masochistic sense and not an experience I want to repeat.
I have lived in the States and visited, tens of times. I’ve been to Hollywood, I’ve been to Redwood… I’ve seen the National Parks and the cities. There’s a lot of great nature and culture, you guys just seem to have elected representation that guts all of the good and stacks up all the bad that is the corruption and grifting that goes with it.
I’ve been to San Francisco and Orlando. Both by invitation, I wouldn’t have gone otherwise.
San Francisco was walkable and had good public transport, but that was the first time I ever flagged a taxi. Saw all the sites and stuff.
Orlando all I saw was hotels and highways as the Uber brought me to Disney Springs.
The cities were polar opposites. I’m not gonna visit either any time soon, as it’s not something I look for in a tourist destination. Philadelphia looks interesting but that’s about it.
I went to San Francisco, Boston, Philadelphia, Atlanta, North and South Carolina, Oregon, Maine, Florida, Virginia and Tennessee. All for my work. Liked some state parks, Blue Ridge parkway and SF bay. Will not go back there now with Trump and his thugs in charge.
I’ve been to Bolivia, Brazil and Argentina. Going to visit Peru also this year.
I haven’t been to the US yet, we thought about going this year, but now we probably won’t go anytime soon.
I‘ve been to NYC and Washington DC with a roadtrip circling NY state and then down to DC in between. It was nice, but it was a long time ago. I‘d like to go back to NYC some day, but I‘m waiting for a less hostile border attitude, if I‘m bringing money as a tourist. I definitely want to see a broadway show or go to the Met some day. In the meantime I‘m going to Canada this summer.
I studied in the US, in Missouri, and I’ve visited about 32 states. I have very good friends living in Arizona so my last visits all went to that part. But I’m not going back in the next 4 years.
Over almost 30 years of travelling I visited NYC, Washington DC, Boston, Denver, Santa Fe, Salt Lake City, New Orleans, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Albuquerque, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Monument Valley, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon, Death Valley, Arches, Antelope canyon, Lake Powell, Devil’s Tower, White Sands, and many other smaller national and state parks. As you can guess, it’s my favorite tourist destination.
not yet and as a trans women, with the way the government acts, I also am not sure if I want to anytime soon. most likely they will first detain and then send me back because i do not pass, but my birth certificate/passport says female, so I must’ve manipulated them or some BS like that. german tourist got that (detained and then send back) happenening to them for less.
I went to Washington a few times, absolutely love the natonal parks and did some great hikes. I think the USA beats most.of Europe when it comes to nature. Seattle was nice but noth8ng special. One day is enough to see the city.
New York was good, the week I went there, wouldn’t have minded some more time there.
Haven’t been anywhere else and definitely would not go now. Maybe if sanity returns to tue country some day. Still want to visit the US south.
In have been to pretty much everywhere in California, a lot of places in Nevada, some in Arizona, and all over southern Florida. I’ve liked my trips there, a lot of things to see, I’ve met nice people there, all good. But I have no aspirations to travel to the US right now. I’ve already been to most place I’d want to anyway, and, well, you know. The US isn’t scoring that high on how-it-looks-to-the-outside points right now.
From Spain. Airport security back then (2006, 2007, 2008) held us for 2 hours for interrogation, they asked me (a kid back then) and my family (parents, siblings), if we were vixtims of kidnapping and child human trafficking… We are a biracial family… but we are all spaniards.
At the airports my family was treated like shit.
Once outside the airports it was fine. Friendly people, but also extremely ignorant (uncultured). Americans are curious, but due to their lack of international culture/exposure, they are are ridiculously gullible and naive…
I could say “In Spain its common to wear Bullfighting cloths as formal attire for graduation” and the chances of someone believing it is high.
Would I go back? With Trump in charge, no…
Spain gets discriminated a lot in American Airports. What is happening now with a lot of other European countries with innocent civilians being detained has been happening to us Spaniards for decades (to a lesser extend, held at least for 2 hours). A lot of LATAM Cartels like to send their goons through Spain, so anyone who looks latino coming from Spain goes through a “random” security check… And if your surname is not common, you are also going through a “random” security check.
I would love to see Mount Rushmore, Yosemite, Yellow Stone, Alcatraz prison, Gran Canon. But your government is extremely dangerour at the moment.
I spent a month touring California. It was quite the adventure. I thought the scenery was stunning. Travelling through the desert was something I’ve never witnessed before or since. I won’t go back while MAGA are in charge.
No, but I’m saving up to go to New Orleans and Las Vegas in the fall. I want to go for 10 days and celebrate Halloween in New Orleans and then go to Vegas and fly home from there. I’m really excited. In
Tldr: its awesome, but under the current regime absolutely nobody should ever travel there. It shouldnt be supported and you’d put yourself in danger (unless you are russian).
As a kid we used to go to florida every autumn holiday, probably 10+ times. Visited disned world a few times, but sometimes also just went to various beaches, pools and malls. Back then america was a lot cheaper than switzerland, so we ate out a lot more and bought all our clothes for the whole family there.
Then in my teenage years we visited relatives in Washington DC a few times. The family is super super nice (as americand generally are) and the smithsonian museums and national mall are awesome.
More recently went with my gf to NYC and DC (family) for xmas like 3 years ago. That was nice, but too cold and dark. Family xmas was awesome tho. Also my partner felt very at home as she is an immigrant from asia here and felt she fit in a lot more in america than either europe or her home country.
Last year for xmas we went to california. Which was finally possible as we had both recently gotten our driving licenses (at age 31). Was our first road trip holiday and we loved it. Again she felt more at home and welcome than anywhere else.
We immediately started making plans on doing another roadtrip this year, either in florida or texas + arizona or louisiana. But then the new regime came into power and showed its true face. And now it is definetly not safe to go anymore.
