There is this fantasy among a certain demographic of men that they deserve a 1950s housewife who cooks, cleans, and caters to their every whim without complaint. But there is a massive, gaping hole in their logic that they always seem to forget. The 1950s husband was the sole provider. He paid the mortgage, bought the car, and funded the groceries. You cannot demand a trad wife on a 50/50 roommate budget.
One woman on Reddit decided she had enough of listening to this delusion in real life. She was hanging out with her friend and her friend’s boyfriend, let’s call him “Trad-Brad.” Brad decided to ruin the vibe by going on a rant about how modern women are single because they don’t want to be traditional wives anymore. He waxed poetic about the good old days when women “were all about taking care of their husbands and household without complaining.”
Our narrator, a 25-year-old woman living in the year 2025, tried to gently point out that women don’t need a man to provide for them anymore, so the dynamic has changed. But Brad wasn’t hearing it.
