I’m about 6’3 and weight like 240lbs so I’m very chubby to say the least… I always just thought I overate alot since I was told I ate to much and was fat when I was younger its something I carried to this day a few days ago I was talking to my bsf about weight and I did some calorie counting and realized on a average day I was only 1500 cals probably less he made me realize it was impossible to manage my weight with only eating 1500 calories sometimes much less then that (I can go a day on a bowl of cereal)
I started putting the pieces together of me realizing some other family members who didn’t eat much but still retained alot of fat or weight (my cousin is 210lbs but you’d think he’s obess at a glance). talk to my cousin mom and aunt and lo and behold my family suffers from weight issues…
Spent all this time thinking I was overeating no matter how little I ate and NO ONE decided to tell me “hey our family has problems losing weight”
Fml.

So did you talk to your doctor about it?
Maybe you have some medial issues?
Problems with your thyroid for example?
1500kcal really isn’t a lot.
I defenitely couldn’t survive on that.
Eat more protein, more fiber, and healthy fats keep the carbs complex and see your doctor to check your thyroid and cortisol levels. At 1500 calories for your height you are practically anorexic. To be normal weight at your height you should be able to eat 2300 calories if you are sedentary and normal weight. You should not be going under 1900 calories if you counted correctly
You might need to work with a nutritionist to figure things out. Weight training also helps with metabolism and weight loss
I do not believe for one minute you’re maintaining on 1500 calories a day.
Thermodynamics are a proven science, “starvation mode” is debunked nonsense spouted by idiots.
you’re still over eating, fat cant just be magically made. And family issues can be nurture (ie learned behaviour and habits) rather than the nature (there must be something wrong with our bodies)
You didn’t skip your drinks when calorie counting? Even some supposedly healthy stuff has a crazy amount of calories, like milk, juice and smoothies. It’s not just soft drinks.
6’3 and 240? I wouldn’t call that “chubby”.
I highly doubt you are eating 1500 calories or less a day and are staying 240 pounds. I think you are underestimating your intake. Start weighing everything you are eating to make sure you are eating the correct portion size for the amount of calories you think you are consuming.
There’s a British show called “secret eaters” you might want to check out. It’s about people who say they don’t eat much and are still overweight. It shows them how little things they do really add up.
You can also eat little all week, and a few indulgence meals on the weekend can really add up.
I’m not saying that’s you, but I’d watch the show just to rule it out.
It depends on the amount of muscle you have. Weight is not necessarily an issue.
