My daughter was SA’d about a year ago. She disclosed it to her therapist a few months later, after a suicide attempt, who reported it to the police, so there is a police report. At the time, my daughter didn’t want to pursue charges because she was afraid of the social repercussions. She suffers from anxiety, is in therapy, and had to switch schools, and her grades suffered. Her life path was altered by this event.
Fast forward to the current day, and he is harassing her. Showing up at places where she is, telling people she lied, spreading rumors. Every time she sees him or is verbally attacked by her friends, it is traumatic for her.
I want to sue the family—the money for therapy and hospital stays, and also pain and suffering. But most of all, I want him to leave her alone and be forced to stop harassing her.
Advice? Is this a thing? If so, how do I proceed?

If you’re willing to sue, why not go to the police? A criminal conviction would be very helpful to any potential civil suit
To be clear, are your daughter and the perpetrator both minors?
>most of all, I want him to leave her alone and be forced to stop harassing her.
That isn’t really a goal advanced in civil litigation. Can you get a protective order? If not, why not?

Is the family rich? Is the perpetrator a minor?
