So I’ll use game of thrones as an example. It’s unfinished but it’s great. A story having a good beginning and a middle. Even if it never gets finished it will still be better than 99% of finished stories. An unfinished story allows you to fantasize and think more about the end and how it will play out. It leaves endless possibilities. I like a good finishes series too, especially with a good ending. But I don’t find it necessary for a story to be great. I love thinking about what’s going to happen to the characters and how it’s an open ended question that I can sleep on rather than it be finished and I already know how it ends. So, unfinished stories are great and I don’t think of stories as less just because they’re unfinished.

OP likes getting blue balled by stories
They are very annoying to read tho.
An author started a new book series and released 2 books, with them being incredibly good. But then the author unfortunately died and never finished the book series. There are soo many unanswered questions because there was supposed to be a lot more books after it. And what happens at the end of book 2 is incredibly interesting and I really wanted to see what happens next.
I’m glad to have gotten signed copies of the books tho.
I mean, I would have preferred GoT to continue. But I guess 6 seasons were enough. And I agree that it is nice to fantasize how the story might have continued after that.
Some stories have so much expectations, some authors simply give up instead of ruining it with shitty ending
