US Tariffs on goods but imported labor gets a pass

r/

Its crazy to me that with one of the aims of the US to tariff goods to increase US jobs, policy still permits importing labor to get by with a free pass.

Why aren’t more people talking about this?

Well we haven’t even enforced employment of illegal aliens laws yet. I’m not sure why THIS surprises you.

TIL that there are still some people out there who think the tarriffs are in good faith and done for the benefit of the American people. Huh.

There’s nothing about this trade war that will be beneficial for the US, the unspoken obvious intent is to destroy the market so it can be purchased for pennies on the dollar just like the collapse of the USSR

If the country doesn’t import labor, you won’t have food.  Picking lettuce and planting chickens doesn’t pay much.

Because it doesn’t matter who does it, what matters is it get made here. Keeps the money in our economy. Nobody is against bringing immigrants here on a legal status that is willing to work

This is about making more money for wallstreet, not about jobs for Americans.
