Vaccination when parents disagree

r/

Looks like one parent can block all vaccinations.

When I search the topic, all the discussion I find assume separation or divorce.

What if you want your kid vaccinated and you don’t want to separate?

Can you get a court order allowing vaccination when the other parent disagrees?

Can you just go get the kid vaccinated? I don’t think that doctors or pharmacists require authorization from both parents.

Just go get your kid vaccinated. They don’t require both parents to be present.

You can just take your kid to get vaccinated, they don’t ask if the other parent consents. HOWEVER, if you use MyChart or other electronic medical records, your spouse will be able to see the child’s vaccine record in there and if the doctor’s office messages you about vaccines, your spouse may also receive the message.

One can also look up a child’s vaccine records on the state database in some states.
