Tell me you don’t poop outside your house without telling me you don’t poop outside your house.

I recently went back to a college bathroom I hadn’t seen in 30 years. It used to have graffiti and now it doesn’t. It hasn’t been painted recently, either.

  4. veryverythrowaway Avatar

Hahahaha what? Where did you get that idea?

  5. slothbuddy Avatar

Certainly not “very rare” but I do see less than I used to now that you mention it

  6. SoundingMacaque Avatar

It was a tik tok trend to vandalize bathrooms a couple years ago. The restaurant I worked at had to keep closing the bathrooms for repairs every couple weeks until they finally installed keypads. Not sure why that worked, but it did. I thought they’d just ask us for the code and then go destroy it anyways, but I’m glad I was wrong

  7. aurumatom20 Avatar

I literally saw a giant “AMOGUS” drawing on a stall yesterday. Just go to a dive bar.

  8. jaypizzl Avatar

While I definitely see less graffiti these days, I also don’t go to filthy dive bars or college dorms anymore so maybe there’s some sample bias going on. That said, this shower thought certainly feels truthy. I wouldn’t be surprised if sales of graffiti cleaner have fallen, for example.

  9. Acminvan Avatar

I don’t know a single guy who walks around with a pen

  10. FLCLHero Avatar

What??? Wtf does smartphones have to do with vandalism in public bathrooms? Who is in there with you while you’re shitting that can record your crime of vandalism?

  11. Imanking9091 Avatar

I’d argue it less to do with smart phones more to do with everyone not requiring a pin or marker to sign things as paper is being replaced by computers and tablets

  12. ryo4ever Avatar

Small silver lining. I’ve seen so many men urinate while holding and scrolling on their phone. Since none of them couldn’t put their phone down, guess what? None of them washed their hands on the way out. So imagine number 2………..

  13. Zearosh Avatar

You haven’t been to an art school bathroom huh.

  14. Drink15 Avatar

The Herero Wars ended when the Ford model T started mass production.

  15. dartingdejima Avatar

Clearly, you’ve never used a portajohn on the construction site

  16. paradoxofreality Avatar

The jodel app used to be really popular in my uni town and their tagline was something like “the virtual bathroom wall”. Where I live now I haven’t found a proper alternative to the app and based on the bathroom walls here, neither have the locals…

  17. Spoonylegs23 Avatar

Vandalism hasn’t necessarily decreased. Though I did notice most vandalism has been more positive affirmations or jokes. At least up here in the Pacific northwest…

  18. hatecuzaint Avatar

There is a Speedway near me with enough graffiti to make up for it.

  19. 3-DMan Avatar

Stalls should have small whiteboards with no-odor markers. Time to practice your handwriting!

  20. PlayboyVincentPrice Avatar

not true, saw sone racist graffiti in the bathroom stall at the movie theater

  21. NuttyWabbit Avatar

We need to start printing QR code stickers to Rick roll people

  22. playr_4 Avatar

Do you not go to public bathrooms? Or maybe it’s only persisted in big cities. Not sure how common that was/is in small towns.

  23. Comet_Lord Avatar

It’s ok I will personally help to make it less rare starting today I’m gonna start carrying a sharpie everywhere I go

  24. MrJbrads Avatar

I work at site where someone wrote a slur on the wall of a port-a-john and they got rid of all port-a-johns except that one and launched an investigation over it.

  25. FreoFox Avatar

Do you think people use toilets less because we have smart phones?

  26. nash3101 Avatar

People don’t carry pens on them as much as they used to

  27. TempletonDRat Avatar

Back in junior high some boys would catch their poop then scrawl their and their girlfriend names on the bathroom walls.

  28. Unfiltered_America Avatar

As someone who owns a business with public stalls: fuck completely off.

This is 100% out of your ass.

It’s a daily fucking ritual to fix the bathrooms, scrub the graffiti, peel graffiti stickers off the mirrors or repaint the stalls because some fucking loser is out there carving that stupid fucking S thats been carved into bathrooms for decades.

    Zero clue jackass.

  29. AverageHobnailer Avatar

Huh, I could have sworn it was because all the dividers between the urinals had been removed.

  30. Pass_Zestyclose Avatar

In my experience, I don’t see vandalism anymore because I’m not in school or other places like the library, in which it’s normal for people to have a backpack with supplies for writing in view.
I have a feeling In high schools and such it’s still a common thing.

  31. Awkward_Pangolin3254 Avatar

It’s definitely still a thing at construction site Porta-Johns

  32. VonRansak Avatar

Yeah, I just turn on bluetooth sharing advertising some manly love at the country gas station restroom. I don’t have to sit in the stall for nobody to show up. Not quite as exciting, but my truck is much more comfortable.

  33. Vstobinskii Avatar

You guys should see some of the things construction workers do to the porta potty walls.

  34. HereticalFoundation Avatar

You must not have gone into any bars recently.

  35. Royalmoose_ Avatar

I work for a municipality and we’re cleaning graffiti all the time. Not necessarily in bathrooms but all over our township

  36. sayracer Avatar

Lmao try the bathrooms/portajohns on literally ANY construction job. They still crazy in there

  37. SharpRun478 Avatar

Well yeah now people have Grindr or Tinder instead of “Tim for a good time”

  38. 01GainingKnowledge Avatar

Huh, yeah. I guess bathroom stall walls were like the original comment section. Now we have infinite comment sections in our pockets. Makes sense graffiti would take a hit.

  39. Bannanna_man_ Avatar

I work at a dive bar and no it has not. I clean new graffiti almost everyday

  40. littlechili02 Avatar

Can confirm this is not the case for Berlin

  41. MJDVR Avatar

Some hero graffiti’d a reading lamp in the shitter on Hampstead Health. Made a really nice change from the tags and public announcements for local slags.

  42. Oxjrnine Avatar

With Grindr and Tindr there is no need for your mom to leave her phone #

  43. Metal-Dog Avatar

    I don’t use a smartphone. I also don’t use public restrooms.

  44. AgrajagTheProlonged Avatar

Nah, bathroom vandalism still happens all the time

  45. Serengeti1234 Avatar

If everyone can now be an anonymous asshole on the internet, who needs bathroom walls?

  46. craig-jones-III Avatar

This is not true at all you guys are just getting old and don’t go out anymore. I see
marker graffiti covering every fucking square inch of bathroom stalls all the time.

  47. RateMyKittyPants Avatar

I used to sit and think

Now I just scroll and stink

    I also like to swipe

    But might forget to wipe

  48. AgainstSpace Avatar

Memes are just graffiti with better production and a bigger audience.

  49. PHWasAnInsideJob Avatar

At my work, someone wrote “nice cock” on a bathroom stall and my boss decided to fix it to “nice cockroach” as if that somehow makes it any better.

  50. HistoricalDebate461 Avatar

People don’t carry around pens like they used to

  51. neko_sensei Avatar

The town I live in invested to build public toilets at the cost of 5 millions. They are always closed because of the homeless who break all the stalls. And that’s with security surveillance at all times. They had to be closed at leqst 10 times for renovation in the last 5 years.

  52. Kodiak01 Avatar

    VEO has entered the chat.

    If you know, you know.

  53. CatboyInAMaidOutfit Avatar

All it’s going to take is one Tik Tok “brainrot” trend and those bathroom stalls are going to be laying out in the street.

  54. H33_T33 Avatar

Every single restroom at my middle school and high school has stalls that can’t lock, at least one missing mirror, carvings on the walls, broken hand dryers, missing paper towel dispensers, broken/missing soap dispensers, broken sink faucets, and piss on the floor. Don’t even get me started about the other restrooms I’ve seen!

It’s safe to say that vandalism is still as rampant today as it was 33+ years ago.

  55. davifpb2 Avatar

People don’t vandalize because they are bored, people don’t need constant entertainment while doing stuff, this applied especially back them. Also a lot of people come to the bathroom only to vandalize.

  56. sugahack Avatar

There’s an eclectic bar/pub around here that the women’s stalls have uplifting and motivational graffiti all over the inside walls of the stalls. I don’t know if that was intentionally curated or there have been just a bunch of really happy and supportive drunk women there over the years

  57. VulpineWelder5 Avatar

Not just stalls, but also the mirrors at the sinks.

  58. lbmjtd Avatar

I work in a pub and can confirm that this is a lie. We just scrub and repaint multiple times a week.

  59. Workerhard62 Avatar

Dude? You don’t have the AR version yet? The stall digitizes via your phone’s cam. Where you been bro?

  60. racecarthedestroyer Avatar

throwback to the stolen toilets in school bathrooms

  61. AM_710 Avatar

One of the best portapotty graffitis I heard about was the “text me a picture of your poop at (insert worst enemy’s phone number)” – years of horrifying pics from unblock-able numbers

  62. ClydeStyle Avatar

It happens frequently I think it depends on where you live. In LA there was a Kobe mural recently defaced by graffiti. Also these days a lot of them use slap tags instead so there’s just an abundance of sticker/paper waste now.
