This is something that has been bugging me for a while. For some reason people act like vanilla is some basic plain flavor when its genuinely just as good as other flavors if not better. I’m not sure if this is really an unpopular opinion because vanilla ice cream is one of the dominant flavors in the market, but i’ve seen lots of people call it plain and i’m tired of it.

I prefer vanilla to chocolate but I can think of a dozen ice cream flavours I prefer over vanilla as well. I guess that means I agree with you to some extent.
Not unpopular
Vanilla bean is my favorite.
I find it funny how people get worked up over people getting vanilla stuff or simple flavors. They act like it’s illegal to get. It is plain and basic and that’s fine but it’s annoying to get shitted on. The day they buy me my ice cream is the day they can lecture me.
try kirkland brand vanilla ice cream from costco, love it
French vanilla is amazing!
Vanilla gets a bad wrap in terms of it being considered plain or simple. Vanilla is literally one of the most complex flavors out there.
Yes!
I feel that vanilla is the most versatile flavor of ice cream.
You can mix it with any other flavor. For example, I can add fresh fruit and/or cocoa powder to it for a milkshake.
I’m an artist, and a general rule is to always start light. You can add layers to darken but you can’t always erase them. I use this advice when drawing. It translates well into working with food. Seasonings, such as salt, are an obvious example.
Plus, one teaspoon of vanilla ice cream can be a good palate cleanser. Sometimes that helps after eating something with a strong lingering taste.
if it wasn’t for it’s boring white colour, I think it would be a lot more loved. people associate the drab white with bland, if it tasted exactly the same but was a gorgeous blue or green or red, it would be so much more popular I think.
Take as cold as ice cream
Good vanilla (the actual beans) ice cream is good. Bad vanilla (artificial flavouring) is bad.
Thanks for coming to my TED.
Vanilla is the best flavor because it has endless possibilities. Chocolate sauce? Sure! Butterscotch? Absolutely! Chocolate and strawberry could never.
Where are the mods? This “unpopular” opinion is up there with Crocs are ugly foot wear.
Especially soft served. I don’t know why, the chocolate one never really worked for me. And I usually don’t mind fake, sugary, chocolate milk
