Velveeta mac and cheese is disgusting

r/

I’m a huge Mac and cheese lover, Goodles, Cabots, Kraft 3 cheese with shells, even Annie’s isn’t too bad, Panera Bread, Cracker Barrell, Stoufers, and restaurant quality are all delicious too. Homemade is good when the proper cheeses are used, and it’s extra creamy.

However I will never understand the hype around Velveeta. It’s just easy cheese with shells and it’s gross.

Not sure if this an unpopular opinion. That said toss some Lawry’s in it, pretty darn good. Add some ground beef, even better. Add some real bacon bits, sublime. Add a dollop of sour cream, perfection!

    Annie’s “isn’t too bad”?

That is the understatement of the century. Annie’s aged white cheddar shells are god’s gift to earth.

Every other boxed mac n cheese is inferior.

The flavor of the cheese sauce in the packets is always disgusting. Powdered cheese has a way better flavor

All mac and cheese is the same. Dull and gross

Goodles is the worst on that list. Not hype over velveeta, it’s just basic Mac and cheese. Seasoning it goes a long way.

Is this unpopular? I never understood why people like velveeta. It’s disgusting. I feel like a lot of people feel this way.

I’ve never tried it but I don’t believe it’s ‘disgusting’ because if it was nobody would buy it and it wouldn’t exist. It’s probably not the best, but it doesn’t pretend to be either. To sum up, you just don’t like it and that’s ok.

Velveeta shells is gross. It’s so…plastic like when it cools

Mac and Cheese is like one of my favorite and main foods. I eat just about every kind and generally love it. I wouldn’t say it is disgusting but velveeta is probably my least favorite and wouldn’t personally buy it. Really most of the “deluxe” versions that have that pouch cheese it just had a weird under/after taste. It’s one of my boyfriend’s favorites so I still pick up some boxes sometimes and for when we don’t have milk.

what hype? it’s not even real cheese.

Nice to see Cabot’s getting the respect it deserves, especially if you add a little Cabot’s shredded cheeseo

It’s ok’ish. Better than the Kraft with the powdered cheese. Not better than Kraft Deluxe

I agree with you, it’s foul. Also it’s not necessarily actual cheese:

In 2002, the FDA issued a warning letter to Kraft that Velveeta was being sold with packaging that falsely described it as a “pasteurized process cheese spread”,[11] The product listed milk protein concentrate (MPC) in its ingredients, which meant it no longer fit any of the FDA’s cheese-related definitions. Velveeta is now sold in the US as a “pasteurized prepared cheese product”,[12] a term not defined by the FDA.

A tip from Italy: put some plain gorgonzola in the pan, super slow flame while cooking pasta in the other pan, and add some cream.

It’s way better that any f mac and cheese.

p.s. add some grated parmigiano once pasta is on the plate for the best outcome.
