I worked at an architectural firm as a BIM operator and drafter. My office has about 40 people assigned to it and this morning most of us got an email from the office manager and asked us to go to a meeting in the large conference room at 10 am. We all went and the branch manager said that our office was being eliminated as part of an overall company wide restructuring and we were all terminated. This sucks. Ask me anything.
Was just laid off along with my entire office, AMA

Like what city or the name of the business
Sorry OP. How many countries does your previous company have offices in?
What was your offices workload like prior to the layoff
Maybe another door will open, best of luck to you.
Dang man…that’s tough.
I’ve been managing an architectural firm for the last 25 years. Let me tell you that people need you and what you provide. Just might have to adjust to a different market.
What was the collective reaction? Imagining it a bit odd that even the office admin who announced the firing was being let go.
So sorry! Been there, myself and my husband, and it’s always hard
Welcome to the future of AI.
I anticipate AI will unfortunately hit your line of work hard (me too — I fully expect I have 3-5 years at best).
Do you think this was part of it?
What’s the reason they gave you?
Good – you don’t want to work for a broke company that’s struggling. They did you a favor and set you free. Now you can also collect unemployment and go and land a great job at a healthy firm.
Good luck
Gensler?
What would be the ideal job for you?
Wish you find something better soon!
