My boyfriend (27m) went to pay the utilities for the new apartment we moved into and was alerted to a decent balance on his account from a previous apartment. It’s been almost a year since he moved out of that apartment and after checking his emails and going through old paperwork he is certain he was never contacted regarding the undercharge or about paying the balance so it’s been sitting acquiring late fees for probably half a year now if not more. We don’t know if there’s legally anything we can do or if it’s even worth disputing since the balance owed is under 1,000 dollars. Any advice?
