I want to emphasize how decimating the whole construct of reality is we live in.
Most people take their careers on their own. And that’s the system’s intention. Humans are herd animals who function most effectively in communities and are most productive through collaboration with others. The entire education and career system is designed so that after completing training or university, you enter the world of work as a lone wolf. Cooperation with other individuals is not the norm. You move through life alone and seperate until you retire.
It is a maliciously sophisticated system that leads to the isolation of individuals.

While it’s true that modern systems often encourage individualism, it’s a mistake to believe we’re powerless within them. Life is what you make it. We still have the choice to seek community, build relationships, and collaborate with others.
Work and education doesn’t make up the entirety of one’s life, this is needlessly bleak. The system’s intention is to maximize profits, everything else is just a side effect of that. If and when collaboration is profitable, then that’s what happens. There are fields that are incredibly team based, healthcare for one.
Okay that’s just false. Work is very collaborative.
But I think the area certain assumptions our society has that are routinely proven false everyday. For example, we tend to think that education is good for society because it improves individual capacity to think better and do more efficient work. Education is offish considered a public good for that reason.
But look at where we are now and….the very people undermining society are credentialed. They’re educated. It’s part of their appeal. So what gives?
Just meet people at your school or job dude. You’re going to be studying/working with people your whole life. It’s on you if you never talk to them.
It is designed to make the corporation your herd in order to exploit you as much as possible
Yes! Please go move to an intentional community and change that! It’s more important now than ever!
This is a thoughtful observation.
The system has no intention, it’s just the byproduct of business and commerce
Nobody conspires to keep anyone down, it takes too much time and effort – they all just want to work the system to make a buck for themselves and their family
Assuming intentional malice is defeatist thinking
The workforce is largely a system of collaborative companies (some are dysfunctional and some are efficient but that’s another topic) where you aren’t alone. WFH is a new thing in the last 5 years. You’re supposed to grow your network to be successful.
Have you ever done a group project before? Collaboration requires buy-in, and 70% of people are either too lazy or too incompetent to actually collaborate. Being a productive lone wolf is why I’ve been able to succeed in white-collar jobs.
Well, you got the right sub That’s certainly an unpopular opinion. What sort of shitty jobs have you had?
We only function better in herds because they tell us that. We function best actually in small groups like a family. Not large ones. That’s why everything has to have groups of people “fanboys” that are toxic and can’t even criticize stuff to make it better. In all big groups it gets like this too. Most collaboration ends miserably now. Tons of terrible games, terrible movies and awful music. Look at what facebook did to the US. They studied it and use it against us.
People just need to listen to the smart people again, not the loudest fast speaking bullshitters. The people that study things are typically quiet and are thought of as rude because society has shunned straight-forward speech pretty much but they aren’t rude. They just aren’t going to tell you what you want to hear. We have to go back to this for stuff to get better again.
“ how decimating the whole construct of reality is”
OP, you need to begin again.
