We need to make it ok to correct each others spelling and grammar again

I am including myself in this. If you are an English teacher or grammar cop, please feel free to give me your corrections. It has gotten to the point of constant misspelling and misused phrases. It’s not “grant it”, but “granted”. It’s not “cerial”, but “serial”. These are some nicer examples, of which there are many and no one corrects each other anymore for fear of being seen as rude or elitist.

Autocorrect fucks me over all the time. I tend to write run-on word salad sentences. There are a hundred reasons why an otherwise intelligent person may make a spelling mistake, like potentially hearing a phrase without seeing it written out or vise versa. We still need to be able to correct each other, because as a whole everything has become near illegible.

I would rather someone correct me so I could improve, than all of our collective literacy levels to go further down the tubes. It’s not an asshole move to correct grammar if you’re not an asshole about it, and people need to be open to hearing it. It’s past the point of necessary.
