55M in Illinois wanting to get high for first time. On the advice of dispensary guy, I tried couple of disposable vapes but I couldn’t get high. I took two puffs and waited 15 min. Then repeated 3 times and gave up. I tried taking 1/3 gummy every 45 min and repeated 3 times..nothing. what advice you have for me for trying safely? Should I try some other product. I don’t want to spend too much since I don’t know I would like it. I have Sunnyside dispensary near me but I am not sure what to get.

When I first started smoking (omg, don’t make me figure out how many years ago), it took me a number of times before I felt any effects, which is not (as far as I understand) totally unheard of.
Forget the vapes just buy a joint a puff on it a bit put it out if it’s too much relight it later
Some people do not feel the effects the first few times.
Also, some people will not ever feel the effects of edibles, no matter the dose. (I’m one of those people)
If you really want to, keep trying, but make sure you are in a safe, comfortable place or with a safe person in case you feel more than you were expecting based on your previous experiences.
Some people get paranoid when they have too much.
I’d just do edibles dude small candy or something no brownies n shit.

Rolling a joint or a blunt as a first time could be tricky. Nowadays dispensaries have them pre-rolled for you. You can also buy a pipe so you don’t have to also breathe in the cigar wrap or rolling paper.
Take a few puffs and wait for about 30 minutes

The same thing happened to me. I tried various types of edibles in different forms, smoking a blunt, etc but what finally got me lit was a pen. Not necessarily recommending that, but pens and dabs will have higher amounts of THC which is bound to work eventually. It sounds like you’re already taking it slow which is great, so just ramp it up a bit and it will happen eventually.
SSRIs inhibit intake as well. If you’re on a maintenance med, then you might never get the effect you’re looking for.
I’d recommend buying a couple of prerolls. It’s a different kind of high, much more of a slow come up and comedown, which I enjoy more.
As others have said, it can take a few times to feel the effects. Keep at it 🙂
