Weird coincidence ?

r/

Hi guys, big fan and longtime listener to both of your podcasts. This isn’t a problem but more of something weird that happened that I’ve been thinking about, and would love to know if anything similar has happened to anyone else.
(Background)
I am a healthcare worker in long term care, so naturally I am around dying people every day and have developed somewhat of an ability to tell when someone is about to pass away. About 8 of my DNR residents have passed in the last 6 months, so I have been around lots of death and usually somehow sense that it’s close.

Back in 2024 I took a small trip to a family reunion/celebration of life for a family member, and while there I got to see my great uncle (grandmas younger brother) who I hadn’t seen in about a year because he lives decently far away. After an afternoon of laughing, catching up, and having some food/drinks with him and the rest of the extended family, it was time for me to head out and start my trip back home. As I left, I gave my family members each a hug like I normally would, no big deal, and when I went to say my goodbyes to my uncle, as soon as I went in to hug him I just start crying, hard, like almost uncontrollably. I couldn’t quite put my finger on why, so I just chalked it up to me missing him a lot or me being hormonal. I was a little embarrassed because people were staring at me, I made my way to the car and headed home, made it back with no problems. I thought about him in the following weeks, still emotional at the thought of me leaving him that day and had no idea why it was stuck in my brain.

A little over a month later, he passed away at 70 due to a cancerous tumor that had taken over almost every part of his body, that nobody, including himself, knew about.

Yeah, weird right? This was a weird experience to me and I’d love some insight or other stories from you guys here. Did I somehow sense that he was going to pass soon? I haven’t experienced it to the degree where I’m literally distraught and crying, maybe it was stronger because he’s my uncle? I have no idea. I love talking about this and would love to hear other experiences from you guys on here or what you think of this experience 🙂
