  1. Ayla1313 Avatar

I developed several food allergies but lost my allergy to cats.

  2. facedownasteroidup Avatar

I actually became very allergic to adhesives after I had my first kid at 37. The IV tape made my hand break out, and when I had a c section at 39 the adhesive they put on my abdomen broke me out in a huge swollen rash, was real weird!!

  3. _sadcat__ Avatar

So many food intolerances 😭 after having my daughter.

If anyone has a way to cure them or something let me know 🥲

  4. cloy23 Avatar

I got rid of my dairy allergy, which came with eczema, asthma, the whole shebang. I have become less reactive to some nuts but the nut allergy still very much present for me. I don’t think it’ll ever go. Shame, I’d love to try a peanut.

  5. crazymissdaisy87 Avatar

I devolped perfume allergy on my 20ies

  6. two2ducks Avatar

Just found out I have a minor nut allergy in my mid 20s! Could eat them endlessly before, dang. On the opposite, lactose intolerance seems to be gone that had plagued me for a decade. Oh, and mosquito bites now inflame like crazy!

  7. Stickywhik Avatar

randomly became allergic to bananas when I was like 13. my mom randomly became allergic to mangos at 35

  8. Mysterious_Mind2618 Avatar

Developed two food allergies in my mid-twenties

  9. TeaseDolliexx Avatar

Developed an allergy to adulthood and responsibilities here. Anyone else? 😂

  10. Super_Till_4729 Avatar

I became anaphylactic allergic with gastro symptoms to strawberries at 21. I loved those fruits too

  11. msstark Avatar

I became lactose intolerant and allergic to pineapple in my early 20s

  12. JacPhlash Avatar

Walnuts and bananas make make my mouth a little itchy these days, but me aspirin allergy seems to to have disappeared.

I accidentally took two aspirin a few months ago after staying away for 8 years. My face didn’t blow up, so I’ve got that going for me.

  13. missleavenworth Avatar

Got bit by a tick and now can’t eat mammal. I also became allergic to tree nuts at the same time, but don’t know why.

  14. stubbornpasta Avatar

i’ve developed allergies to dust and alcoholic beverages 🫩

  15. b_from_the_block Avatar

    childhood: probably ate dirt

adulthood: allergic to pretty much everything seasonal which means allergies all year (pollen, dust, etc)

  16. Pepperslullaby Avatar

Ive had allergic reactions to myself ! Even passed allergy tests and they diagnosed me with chronic urticaria. Basically my body reacts to itself as if it was allergic to itself 😅 its happened once when I was a very young kid, and then didn’t happen again until last year which is when I passed the allergy test.

  17. Royal_Case_4776 Avatar

I have a weird on/off fish allergy. But white fish, not shellfish. Prawn crackers sets it off too

  18. Axolotler Avatar

Recently had surgery and have developed an allergy to surgical glue and penicillin since I last had it 3 years ago!! Not impressed.

  19. kymilovechelle Avatar

I was highly allergic to cats all my life until COVID hit. Each Christmas I’d visit my grandparents with multiple cats and sneeze and have my eyes almost glued shut… Then I got COVID and haven’t had hay fever nor allergy to cats ever since. No idea if it was bc of it but I think it is pretty interesting timing.

  20. barker2017 Avatar

Developed a sun allergy in my late 20s. It sucks

  21. Ok_Speaker4522 Avatar

I got rid of my allergy to fish and peanuts, it happened just like that and I still don’t understand how that happened.

  22. JadeBlueAfterBurn Avatar

around 30 i became allergic to grapes and oysters. i have to carry an epi-pen because of it. before 30, i had no issues with those foods

  23. McK-MaK-attack Avatar

I became allergic to almost all animals around 17 years old. Which sucks! I grew up with dogs and cats and never had a problem at all. And then one day, a switch was flipped and I get a very bad rash after I pet them. And I love animals so much it’s torture. I still have a dog though because eff it. I just can’t really cuddle him

  24. coolazngirl Avatar

    Developed lactose intolerance 😔😔😔

  25. Eastpunk Avatar
  26. RedRose_812 Avatar

Lost my childhood cat and dog allergies by my mid-20s.

I went from not being able to be in the same room as a cat or dog without immediately plugging up as a kid to owning a super floofy border collie mix who didn’t cause any reaction at all in 13 years as an adult.

My outdoor allergies/hay fever also from when I was a kid have stuck around but are far less severe now.

  27. LeilaJun Avatar

I was badly allergic to feathers as a kid, would give me terrible asthma. I’m totally good now.

Developed a ton of other allergies though: potatoes (!!!), tuna, lobster, scallops, kiwi

Was and continue to be very allergic to dust mites and cats

  28. woahwoahwoah28 Avatar

I did both. Developed an allergy to dogs by the time I was 9–two years after our family dog passed.

Got a hypoallergenic dog when I was in my early 20s. And now I am not allergic to any dogs.

(I know they’re not really “hypoallergenic,” but it’s commonly used terminology. And there is less dander. Please don’t get pedantic)

  29. Educational_Ad2515 Avatar

I developed a severe allergy to omeprazole. I had a prescription for years, no issue. One morning before work, I took an ibuprofen and an by the time I got to work my tongue was swollen and my cheeks were tingling. In my mind I figured it was just the combination of the two, so I took my Omeprazole the next morning, my eyes were nearly swollen shut, I had broken out and hives, it was probably should have gone to the hospital bad.

  30. nightmareinsouffle Avatar

Had no allergies until my 20s when pine nuts started to make my throat itch. Then I started reacting to bandages. If I get a shot, I get a small welt which is ten times worse if they put more than cotton and gauze on it. I also now have some kind of allergy to some kind of pollen or mold, so I take allergy meds virtually year round.

Not technically an allergy, but I had a rare genetic autosomal recessive metabolic disorder as a kid that made it very difficult for me to digest protein and I would get super sick. That stopped somewhere around puberty. So not having to watch what I eat like a hawk for worry of ending up hospitalized is nice.

  31. Thismindthisbody Avatar

Somehow became allergic to most nuts and pitted fruit at age 22.

  32. Informal_Tension9536 Avatar

I never had allergies as a child, developed seasonal allergies at around puberty as well as to dogs and cats. Then when i turned about 20/21 i randomly became allergic to weed (marijuana), several nuts (most severe is hazelnut which is tragic cause i love nutella 😔), a lot of fruits and vegetables, and somehow lost my allergy to cats??? Still at 26 testing the limits of what im allergic to and how severe cause it keeps seeming to change. And my seasonal allergies are worse than ever. Its a tragic life 😭 but im very blessed that none of my allergies are life threatening or will put me into shock

  33. NosediveBone Avatar

Developed a shellfish allergy, which sucked considering how much I love shrimp and lobster 💔

  34. T0ffoloff Avatar

Bananas at around 20, latex at around 22, latex fruit allergy followed shortly after, cucumber, dog hair, and one random day at 27 my body decided to give up on gluten and I was diagnosed coeliac lool

  35. AC_Lerock Avatar

cat allergies. Always had them pretty bad, my family didn’t give a shit, had cats anyways. My wife came with a cat, package deal I guess. Now I only sneeze or get itchy eyes if I get really close to nuzzle them. Otherwise, no big deal.

  36. NelPage Avatar

When I was a teenager I became allergic to tree nuts and most raw fruit.

  37. megantron422 Avatar

Became anaphylactic to cats at 32. And developed an allergy to Leyland cypress, found that out the hard way at work a few days ago.

  38. Present-Body7905 Avatar

im mildy allergic to cats, i used to have no allergies then it was really bad like hives bad and now ill get itchy randomly but its mostly okay

  39. sarahjean98 Avatar

I was deathly allergic to Tequila my entire life up until this year (I am about to be 27) I’m glad though because I can now enjoy a margarita. It was an odd allergy though because I didn’t have a reaction to agave or agave syrup, just very specifically tequila 🤷‍♀️

  40. draconissa23 Avatar

Kiwi.. recently found out I have gotten allergic.
My dad is too, so I guess that’s something?
Just sad as I love kiwi, but not enough to have to endure the intense itchy throat and feeling my tongue go numb

  41. TooMuchLaundry23 Avatar

After having my first kid at 20, I started becoming intolerant to pork. Over the next 2 years it got so bad (before I made the connections because I didn’t eat a lot of pork anyway) that eating pork would cause me so much pain and stomach troubles.

I finally figured it out and now I stay away from all pork .. until my partner makes a really good pork chop and I try a bite “just to see” .. and I spend the next 6 hours on and off the toilet and complaining about how much my stomach hurts lol

    EXCEPT

The dried Mexican pork snackies. THOSE I can eat with no pain and no stomach troubles. 🤷🏻‍♀️

  42. Will_V_S Avatar

I became allergic to alcohol. If anything with alcohol touches my skin. My skin swells, gets itchy, turns red, and hurts. I have to check the ingredients list in shampoo, conditioner, soaps, moisturisers, etc to see if there is alcohol.

  43. blue_mushu Avatar

I developed a random allergy to something, but still don’t know what yet. Most crayon eyeliners, many eye shadows, some cosmetics…

Some combination of environmental factors also seem to trigger me. I did a 8 mile run this weekend and now I have itchy hives on me, started right after the run. 🙁

I did a whole battery of allergy tests and while I found a few potential allergens, none that would explain all this yet.

  44. MrMeesesPieces Avatar

Apparently I’m severely allergic to bullshit

  45. Arugula_Dismal Avatar

My brother out grew his egg, shellfish and wheat by the time he was 10

  46. monpetitchou_ Avatar

Pretty sure I’ve suddenly become allergic to pineapple at 35. Ate a few little pieces a while ago and my whole tongue and throat felt burnt for a week

  47. Salty-Count Avatar

I developed an allergy to coconut, walnuts, yuzu and kiwi all within the last year

  48. ghoultail Avatar

I’m 26 and I just developed an allergy to cherries

  49. karmatrical Avatar

Lost my allergy to cats after living with my old roommate’s 2 fat cats. I had to take allergy medicine before going over to her house before we moved in together. They loved me so much and always slept on my bed, I guess I got used to them after that

  50. Zealousideal_Iron713 Avatar

Had allergy testing done in my early 20s due to an anaphylaxis type event. Mold will kill me, and man, I miss Bleu cheese. Incidental findings were not allergic to dogs and cats, but cattle 🫤 and they said chicken asking with a handful of others. I said, “No way I’m allergic to chicken! I eat that almost every day.” So I followed Dr.’s orders and stopped eating all chicken for 4 months. When I slowly added it back to my diet, I broke out in a rash and hives after a 1/2-3/4 cup serving. 😭😭 I stopped eating chicken for almost 10 years. Really missed the variety, so I tried a small amount of organic chicken and… no reaction but dopamine. Now, 10 years later, I can eat chicken without issue. But mold… it’ll still kill me, hahaha.

  51. Lovely-flowers Avatar

I developed a severe allergy to cats and it makes me really sad and mad

  52. cat_seance Avatar

i developed a bad gluten intolerance for about six months after having covid. so relieved it went away. i already have ARFID so it just made it so much harder to eat/survive

  53. lawl3ssr0se Avatar

Become very allergic to red 40 after first pregnancy, now it’s so bad I have to carry a dang epi pen. Oh how I miss Doritos!

  54. bunnycrush_ Avatar

My stomach can’t handle red wine anymore 😭 Started happening in my late twenties. After a second glass, I get painfully bloated, crampy, the works.

I would call it a “sensitivity” more than an allergy, but it’s too bad because I really don’t care for the vast majority of white wine.

  55. Shabettsannony Avatar

I recently figured out that I’m mildly allergic to some oranges. Apparently, you’re not supposed to get an itchy, tingling sensation when you eat them.

  56. indiscoverable Avatar

I developed and un-developed a mango allergy between the ages of 18 and 25! And acquired a tamarind allergy that’s still hanging around 🙁 I also think I’m currently developing a saniderm allergy based on my last few tattoos

  57. Simethi Avatar

I was born with egg allergies, which I lost when I was about 20. One of the best things that have ever happened to me!

  58. SnobBeauty Avatar

Randomly developed a latex allergy last year.

  59. kennysmithy Avatar

Allergy to pet dander and pollen. Nothing until I turned 18 and it hit me like a truck

  60. legendofdoggo Avatar

I’ve always been allergic to cats. Like I get itchy, watery eyes, won’t be able to stop sneezing and get a runny nose if I’m in the home of someone that has a cat. I developed an allergy to penicillin when I was a kid and got hives on my stomach. And at 28 I randomly became allergic to almonds. Found out after I ate a handful of chocolate covered almonds and then my airway felt like I was breathing through a straw. 😞

  61. OpinionsInTheVoid Avatar

Developed an allergy to garlic in late 20s. Would have preferred if it was an allergy I always had because now I know what I’m missing.

  62. caffeinejunkie123 Avatar

Lost my allergy to cats and dogs. And I now have two cats!

  63. unicornug Avatar

As a baby I was allergic to milk and then I developed wheat and egg allergies. Once I got a little older all of my allergies went away. I’m in my late twenties now and a few years ago the egg allergy came back but a little different this time. Instead of throwing up they make my stomach cramp and give me intestinal issues. But I can eat them in things, just not alone. It’s definitely weird and I’m assuming I’ll develop some more as I get older.

  64. SnooCupcakes3043 Avatar

As a kid I randomly became very allergic to Bananas, Walnuts, any type of melon and Avocado. My throat would close up. Grew out of the banana allergy first like 10 years later. However the others I just stop having reactions and I am 40. It was really weird.

  65. HistoricalHeart Avatar

Lost all seasonal allergies and never gained any new ones.

  66. Kakashisith Avatar

I never had allergies against wasp sting until last year, when I was 42. My finger was swollen and itchy about a week. Never happened before- earlier it was just a little pain an hour and so, and everything was gone.

  67. Libra_8118 Avatar

Get strong gastro symptoms when I eat lobster, slightly milder with shrimp. This is new as of the last 4 years or so. Bananas became an issue 10 or so years ago.. that is an itching in my mouth and tongue.

  68. AYearOfSaturdays Avatar

I developed hay fever in my twenties. I knew the joy of spring once, but no more.

  69. unluckyswede Avatar

Weirdest thing, I started getting face/airway swelling and all-over hives bc of dairy free protein drinks at about age 20. I didn’t realize it was the pea protein til a year later, the second time it happened. I thought it was because of monk fruit extract. I’ve had cooked peas just fine, I’m wondering if it’s the concentration or type of pea used for protein beverages. Kinda sucks since I don’t wanna shit my brains out from whey protein.

  70. imyoked Avatar

My sister used to be really allergic to shellfish as a kid. But we’re from Louisiana sooooo we would always find her hiding under tables/in corners stuffing her face with shrimp or crawfish with her face and hands bright red and 100x the size they should be. No matter how many times this happened, she couldn’t be stopped. Years later, she is no longer allergic.
My mom also developed a bee allergy in her 40s after being stung by a few at once and week long hospital vacation. Now she has to carry an epi pen.
My throat used to close when I ate eggs as a baby.
Don’t know how or when that allergy disappeared but I eat eggs every day now. Weird!

  71. HighOnHerbs Avatar

I was allergic to raw citrus for about 7 years, over that time I missed citrus fruits so much that every scented thing I bought smelled like citrus, it’s now my scent even though I can eat them again

  72. BlueXTC Avatar

Allergy to mammalian protein. Happened around 2008 from tick bite. Not diagnosed until 2018 after trying doctor after doctor looking for an explanation for the pain and the wheezing. Incorrect diagnosis more than once. Doctors thought I was shopping for opiates or got recommendations for group therapy for fibromyalgia. It wasn’t until my gastro pointed out an extreme allergy to pork and subsequent testing showed beef, lamb and basically anything with a hoof. So my diet is either something flies or swims.

  73. BakedTaterTits Avatar

Developed peanut allergy at 16. Outgrew it at 32. I ate an entire jar of peanut butter mixed with chocolate chips after I passed my food challenge, lol.

Developed severe environmental allergies and I’m getting immunotherapy shots for them. As a kid, no environmental allergies. As a teen, mild ones. As an adult, severe ones. I take 2 antihistamines plus sudafed, use a nasal spray, and antihistamine eye drops daily. It wasn’t enough but I’m almost at maintenance dose with my shots and I’m no longer a total mess just because I stepped into my yard after the neighbors mowed.

  74. HyenaDependent2928 Avatar

Uh just in December I found out I’m allergic to walnuts. 2020 it was pineapple. 2021 it was grapes. Turns out I have OAS and my body just thinks I’m eating pollen 🤗

  75. My_Uneducated_Guess Avatar

I don’t know that it’s an allergy per se, but for some reason nowadays when I have chocolate frosting my mouth tickles. Not even that it just has a weird feeling, but it literally tickles and its hard to keep myself from laughing with how ticklish it is

  76. bitter_sweet9798 Avatar

I used to struggle with severe dermatitis and seasonal allergies, but ever since I moved abroad, they’ve completely disappeared. I truly believe it was all deeply connected to my emotional well-being.

  77. greenpepperssuck Avatar

In my 20s I developed an allergy to some ingredient in certain skin care products. Still have no idea what it is, but it pops up every 5 years or so when a product I use changes their formula.

Also I’m allergic to all bath and body works products made after 2019 or so

  78. dunnowhy92 Avatar

When I turned 30, I finally got tested.

I’m allergic to a bunch of things—preservatives like parabens and formaldehyde resins, natural resins like oakmoss and Peru balsam, and common fragrance ingredients such as geraniol and coumarin. On top of that, some specific additives like sorbitan sesquioleate and urea also trigger reactions.

In simple terms, my body reacts to a lot of artificial preservatives, natural resins, and typical fragrance compounds.

  79. WhiskyTangoFoxtr0t Avatar

I had no allergies as a child, but now I am allergic to Prednisone, and I have become sensitive to gluten. The gluten gives me GI upsets, but thankfully these days kind of easy to avoid it, there are a lot of gluten-free options available for the most part.

  80. Money_These Avatar

Year-round allergies regardless of season. Thankfully I’m not allergic to my dog.

Lactose intolerance – switched from whole milk to 2% milk and then finally stopped at almond milk. I can still eat certain cheeses without issues.

  81. tallgirlfemme Avatar

I developed an un-ignorable cow dairy protein allergy and corn sensitivity around age 24. Now that I’m 30 I’ve been able to identify a sensitivity to peppers (the fruit/veg) and have recently been having oral allergy syndrome symptoms with walnuts and bananas. These go with long term/life long latex and environmental allergies.

I’m really crossing my fingers that I stop getting new allergies.

  82. Hellcao Avatar

I developed an allergy to eggs and the cold 😕 but I’m not allergic to cats anymore!!

  83. xoLiLyPaDxo Avatar

My minor ” annoying” childhood allergies to polyester, laundry detergents, soaps, air fresheners, scented trash bags, mold and dust mites/insects all became life threatening as an adult.

Polyester went from just being itchy, to rashes, to hives, to open sores and things like polyfill/ down alternative near my face causing wheezing, severe asthma, rescue inhaler useless and went unconscious from lack of oxygen. 😵

Developed new allergies to cleaning chemicals, but on a happier note, chili powder seems to no longer make my tongue and lips swell up like it used to, at least not in small amounts like it used to.

  84. chironinja82 Avatar

I lost my allergies to cats! I don’t know how or why it happened but I was allergic until I was 19. I was dating someone with a cat and I would always get sneezy and stuffed up when I came over. I remember one particular day it was so bad, I could feel my eyes puff up and they wouldn’t stop tearing up! The next time I came over, nothing. Not even a sniffle. It was a freakin miracle lol.

  85. anon______eyes61111 Avatar

Tree nut allergy. Ate a nut at thanksgiving five years ago and my throat was closing. Now I can’t have tree nuts in my food or makeup. Stinks because I love food and I love trying all sorts of food 😔

  86. PureYouth Avatar

I was allergic to everything as a kid. I had to get an injection in my arm every night before bed. Chocolate, red dye, pineapples, cola nut, cats, more and more and more (these were just the toughest ones for me). They were all gone by the time I was about 8

  87. straberry_shortcake Avatar

I liked sea food but one day suddenly i was allergic

  88. SimpleMacaron101 Avatar

Shellfish after pregnancy and I used to eat shellfish all the time

  89. banananutttt Avatar

Penicillin in my early 20s!! My dad and I got this same sickness cold thing so we had to take the same amoxicillin dose and it ended up being the thing that “broke the seal” so to speak. Him and I got our first penicillin reactions (him in his 50s)
Which is super annoying bc now I gotta take random other meds lol ! Once I had a doc ask my allergies and I said “penicillin” and she jokingly was like “ah, you’re not making this easy for me” lolll

  90. CAharleywife Avatar

During my second pregnancy at age 30, I developed a sun allergy. I would break out in a rash on my arms and legs only, even if covered. I think it’s PMLE (Polymorphous Light Eruption). On the plus side, after this same pregnancy, I rarely ever had a migraine again. Baby is 22 now and still gives me plenty of regular headaches though.

  91. OkayCartographer Avatar

I developed a gluten allergy at 22 and it’s so inconvenient I hate it so much

  92. Glindanorth Avatar

I became allergic to the sun but I’m no longer allergic to scented soaps.

  93. Acix Avatar

I had my dog for two years before I developed allergies to him 😭 still have him though

  94. merelyinterested Avatar

I developed an allergy to coconut and its byproducts. Mainly chemicals! So not more experimenting with shampoos or skincare or soaps lol

  95. moomooyellow Avatar

I developed a poultry allergy?! So no chicken eggs or chicken meat for me. I think I’m going to try duck eggs soon to see if I can tolerate them.

Unfortunately, my other allergies haven’t gone away 😭

  96. mumble89 Avatar

Randomly became allergic to coconuts at like 14 and then got over it by like 22 from basically microdosing. Although I used to love it and now it’s not really my favorite anymore.

  97. SHieb92 Avatar

Lost my allergy to a lot of fruits and avocados but gained a severe allergy to duck eggs of all things.

  98. BeckyDaTechie Avatar

    Lost: Bee Stings

    Gained: Red Meats

Kept: Strawberries, lactose/milk protein, and contact dermatitis.

  99. nkin-0606 Avatar

I was allergic to dairy products (milk protein) during all childhood, it caused me pretty bad rashes. It was gone when I became a teenager. It came back last year and I had to stop eating all good stuff.

  100. definitelytheproblem Avatar

Suddenly developed seasonal allergies in my 30s, along with a mild/moderate allergy to Kiwi and mild allergy to Pineapple. I also have a latex allergy since I was young, apparently the last two are common with latex allergies?
