Downloaded DuoLingo. Instead of fueling online drama, now I’m fueling my multilingualism. Who knew I could trade doomscrolling for ‘Bonjour’ and ‘Cómo estás’?
I replaced doomscrolling with Reddit. Now I’m just doomscrolling in a more structured way—at least I get memes and cat videos while I mentally disintegrate.
I’ve severely diminished my “screen time” overall since ditching (most of) the social media platforms and I have zero regrets. I’ve been spending the extra time on my favorite hobbies, such as my garden, my tropical plants collection, miniatures etc. highly recommend 👍
Honestly, I swapped out my usual doomscrolling on social media for spending time on the Kindle app, and it’s been a total game changer. Instead of getting sucked into endless negative news or drama, I just dive into a good book, sometimes fiction, sometimes self help or even random non fiction. It feels way more productive and relaxing and I actually look forward to those quiet moments now. I have also started using Duolingo to brush up on a new language when I’m bored, which feels like a much better use of my time. Both apps make me feel like I’m learning or unwinding, not just wasting time scrolling. Highly recommend giving it a try
Swapped doomscrolling for the Calm app. Now I’m calming myself down instead of spiraling. No more falling into conspiracy theory rabbit holes – I’m too busy breathing deeply and pretending I’m a zen master. 🌿🧘♂️

Comment; I’ve swapped mindless scrolling for “Duolingo”. I’m now fluent in an extra language of anxiety, but at least it’s productive! 🦉📚
I’m just in the moment with my family more.

Was going to say “an emulation” handheld, but, welp can’t get those anymore.
Either way, retro games are a great distraction from reddit. No matter how you get them.
A word processor to get more writing done, lol. Both fan fiction and original fiction. Halfway through chapter 5 of my next novel, baby!
Still on YouTube but I’ve recently found free audiobooks on there. Finished Atomic Habits, currently listening to Eat The Frog.
Wikipedia has an app and the Explore page is fun to scroll through!!

I found reading long form content, mostly on subs like best of Redditor upvotes, was much better than doom scrolling shorts
