    In no particular order.

Becoming a father and a better man because of it.

A serious auto accident that permanently damaged my hearing.

Leaving my POS alcoholic cheating wife and getting equal custody rights contingent on her maintaining her OWN household and mental health, if she fumbles the remaining bag she is left with I take the kids. My children deserve their mom in their life but if she can’t stay on the straight and narrow she wont deserve our kids in hers.

The end of the best relationship and loss of the most incredible woman I’ve ever met. My own issues from previous bullshit I hadn’t dealt with coupled with the loss of my father made me a mess.

    1. I stopped hanging with my old destructive friends
    2. I stopped listening to people who know JACK
    3. I achieved my childhood dreams

    1. I stopped hanging around my old bad friends

There is a saying: “A fake friend can inflict more damage than five enemies.” I touched upon this in a previous post, but allow me to elaborate. I made the difficult decision to distance myself from my old friends as they spiralled into arrogance, obnoxiousness, and self-destruction. While they chose to wallow in their problems, I dedicated myself wholeheartedly to my aspirations. This choice led me to remarkable success years later.

Years later, fate intervened when I stumbled upon one of my old friends on Reddit. They gave an apology for their past behaviour, acknowledging the pain they had caused. Yet, they were grappling with a serious drug problem in the past.

It hit me that when I choose to stop hanging around those people. It changed my life for the better.

    2. I stopped listening to people who know JACK.

Throughout my school years, I encountered several teachers who were BAD at their jobs. They projected their limitations and insecurities onto students. Treating their roles as mere jobs, like a typical 9-to-5.

During a one-on-one career discussion, I shared my dreams of working in film and television. The teacher’s reaction was disheartening. She looked at me as if I had uttered something utterly foolish, then quickly dismissed my dream with a curt, “That’s not a real job.”

When I countered, explaining that it absolutely could be a viable career with countless possibilities, she merely shook her head and tutted, as if my passion was laughable. In that moment, I felt a wave of self-doubt wash over me. As a young student, I had always viewed my teachers as guides to the real world, and her reaction felt like a cruel blow to my dreams.

But then, this little thought came to me…”What does she know?”

Suddenly, I was filled with a fierce determination, like a fire had sparked in my belly. I challenged her, asking if she had any experience or knowledge of the industry. She had none. I pressed on, “How can you dismiss or say that when you haven’t got a clue, Miss?” She offered no response, instead attempting to redirect the conversation to mundane topics about other career paths.

At that moment, clarity struck me like lightning. I realised I could no longer listen to the opinions of those who lacked real-world experience. Even when they aren’t something to be proud of. I turned my focus inward, honing in on my goals and the steps I needed to take to achieve them. In the end, I surpassed the expectations of those very teachers who had doubted me.

On the final day of school, one of them remarked that I would struggle in university. Yet, I emerged victorious, earning a First Class Honours degree and winning my first festival award.

    3. My first career breakthrough.

The creative industry is a realm of serious competition, where breaking in feels like an insurmountable challenge. Upon graduating from university, I found myself facing a daunting reality: studios were scarce, and when opportunities did arise, they were inundated with hundreds of hopeful applicants, all vying for a chance to make their mark in this elusive field.

After countless setbacks and relentless perseverance, I finally received the life-changing news: I had been accepted to work on my very first television show. In that moment, I achieved a childhood dream. It was like that iconic scene in The Pursuit of Happyness, when Will Smith receives a job offer and steps outside, overwhelmed with tears of joy.

This moment was not just a career victory…but a big personal victory.
