What are the pros of doing a social science PhD in Europe?

r/

I’m an international in the US, applying for PhDs in the social sciences in the US, Canada and Europe. If you’ve completed your PhD in Europe, where are you now? I’ve heard about the stigma against European PhD holders if one is looking for TT-jobs in US schools. If you aren’t trying to teach in the US, what other pathways are available? I’m looking at a pretty niche field – more-than-human agency and justice / Rights of Nature / new materialism and post humanism, and degrees in Environmental Studies, Critical Human Geography, Anthropology, Global Studies, and Peace Studies. I’m not set on teaching after, and also open to research positions with NGOs and foundations.
