Genetically, they’ve passed down to me the photic sneeze reflex (sneezing when you look at bright lights), and because they both have it I thought for the longest time everyone did that, it’s only in my 20s that someone finally called me out on it and asked me why the fuck I had just gone to stand under a street lamp at night, looking straight up at it, and then sneezed.
In terms of habit, because of them I call the crust of a pizza the “sidewalk”, and when you want to be lucky you don’t just touch wood, you say you “touch monkey skin” and then you touch the top of your own head.
