What are your thoughts on Elon Musk saying that Trump is president because of him?

$250 million and the fact that the tech world went all-in on electing him to make sure crypto and AI didn’t get regulated certainly helped

  2. GrimeyScorpioDuffman Avatar

There is some truth to that. He encouraged (bribed) voters to vote for Trump

  3. radiantravenz Avatar

I have nothing to say but I’m glad they’re both having it now😌

  4. daithisfw Avatar

It’s less true than Elon thinks it is, and probably more true than the average person thinks.

  5. UnsorryCanadian Avatar

Elon owns the world’s biggest social media platform, Trump used that platform to get votes.

    I mean, yeah, we know

  6. Horror_Ad7540 Avatar

It’s a confession. He’s saying “Trump is an incompetent pedophile that I made president” and he thinks it is a brag.

  7. DerLaaleAal Avatar

    Too much ketamine

  8. Optimal_Swordfish780 Avatar

It is not a fact I would be proud of if I was Elon. He’d get further by apologizing for any hand he had in making that happen.

  9. TheShoot141 Avatar

I dont disagree. He bought twitter and said in order for the platform to be a bastion of free speech he has to offend both sides equally. And then less than a week later it was a maga super machine.

  10. Justalittleoutside9 Avatar

    It is true.

Twitter is a massive influencer platform for reporters. Musk owns Twitter. He also spent almost 300 million. But more importantly, he can easily promote angles on his massively important platform for setting the agenda.

  11. subaruheart Avatar

It true but not for the reason most people think . Social media is how half the world gets news now and elon made sure twitter was all trump in the run up to election

  12. yo-momma-joke-here Avatar

Probably more true than not, but not directly because of Elon.

All of the tech bros went in on Trump. So, they all very possibly used their platforms to push him and suppress things about him that would keep him from being elected.

  13. Architeuthis_McCrew Avatar

Well duh. Of course Elon bought the presidency for Trump. Only smooth brains didn’t recognize this.

  14. Gojirahawk Avatar

    Still a cunt

  15. soggyclothesand Avatar

He does know those machines very well Trump said

  16. tacknosaddle Avatar

I’m not surprised that a flaming narcissist with a gigantic ego, who has taken personal credit for the work of others as his entire career, would try to claim the majority of the credit for winning an election that he backed.

  17. Trentsteel52 Avatar

Probably true but also he’s just trying to say stuff that he knows will get under trumps skin

  18. CliffBoothVSBruceLee Avatar

My thought is: How nice to know how easily billionaires can buy our presidency. And by some loony arrogant enough to proclaim “I bought the election.” Arrrrrrrrgggggghhhhh

  19. gerburmar Avatar

I’m having a lot of fun with this. It is notable that nothing they had said about eachother after a certain point was false. But in fact this is pretty speculative, and probably not true. But when are they going to start just making things up, the liars that they are?

  20. Praetorian_1975 Avatar

I believe it’s spelled ‘Treason’ for just about all of them, but they are all so wrapped up in their self aggrandising that nothing will happen. I mean you ‘elected’ a convicted felon, bankrupt, rapist, did I miss anything

  21. CallMeMcPoyle Avatar

I don’t think he’s entirely wrong but just how to quantify the influence he had isn’t possible imo.

  22. DrFishbulbEsq Avatar

I thought it was common knowledge?

  23. kamandi Avatar

Tell us exactly how, Elon. Late at night, when your ketamine fix is waning, and your need for validation as at its peak…..

  24. Grimm2020 Avatar

Would love to hear him break it down as to how exactly he got him elected.

Maybe grant him some sort of protection, and let’s hear the whole story…

  25. The_Craig89 Avatar

I’m sure there’s some truth to it. I don’t think it’s as deep as the conspiracy theorists think it is. I don’t think Elon hacked voter machines.

But I’m more than ready to accept that Elons influence on twitter and social media as a whole had a massive effect on voters.

  26. Ghune Avatar

He gave hundreds of millions to Trump and used his social media to influence people’s opinion, it’s not crazy to say that.

Now, if he starts using his network, money and influence against trump, he could change the while situation.

  27. TehWildMan_ Avatar

    Well duh.

A good billionaire fight is always welcome entertainment, though

  28. anewaccount69420 Avatar

Elon is still a piece of shit even.

  29. 3dsplinter Avatar

I’m torn on this one, part of me is relishing this moment in time and the other part of me is wondering if I’m being played like a pro wrestling fan.

  30. Grattacroma Avatar

Nothing is going to happen anyway

  31. betterthanamaster Avatar

Oh, what a surprise, a businessman/political enemy/political ally/foreign leader/foreign operative believes a president was elected president specifically because of their actions and that means the president owes them! I wonder if this has ever happened in the history of the presidency…

  32. stylazyn Avatar

The election was hacked. Musk knew how to do it and Trump and his felons allowed it.

  33. KatesDad2019 Avatar

Every narcissist thinks the world revolves around them. They should be marooned at the North Pole to fulfill their fantasies.

  34. RobbyRock75 Avatar

I think it’s similar to DOGE. Elon is funding disinformation and directing it to be actively produced by Grok and on his platform, X.

This is the power of Money in action.

It doesn’t produce studies or anything with academic rigor,

It does produce a huge amount of bait for a persons imagination to lock onto.

Social media profiles compile the users of social media and this allows effective targeting formats for the desired information.

An example would be young men 17-19 being fed information that Kamala Harris will send them to war if she’s elected.

We are biological entities and we have passive and instinctual responses and associations which allow information to reach us and get paired with an emotional response.

  35. actual1 Avatar

Not true! He is president because of you!

  36. Fit-Elk1425 Avatar

He is doing what he is always doing which is trying to see if it stirs up enough people in a way that pushes it in a good direction for him

  37. Sauterneandbleu Avatar

Show me the receipts. I fully believe it

  38. recycle_me_no_jutsu Avatar

    We must… Let them fight.

  39. malice666 Avatar

    Probably hacked the election

  40. factoid_ Avatar

Did he say it? Because I saw a screenshot of that tweet, then went to Musk’s page and found no such tweet. He could have deleted it though

  41. McLuvin1589 Avatar

Wild that there are groups that blame Elon for Kamala losing and Trump being in office because of Twitter.

  42. TrashCapable Avatar

They are all corrupt to the core and need to be jailed asap. Our country is in shambles because of them.

  43. BjornStankFinger Avatar

Did Elon have access to voting machines?

  44. StevenEveral Avatar

Someone posted “It’s like the Kendrick/Drake feud but with two Drakes”.

I’m also seeing some liberals be like “The enemy of my enemy is now my friend”.

Not me. The enemy of my enemy is…still my enemy.

  45. human_trainingwheels Avatar

I think that’s accurate, personally I think they rigged it but even if I’m wrong the massive amount of money that musk put in effectively bought the election as well.

  46. oakfan05 Avatar

Probably means Elon helped rig it some how. Via X or the changes in the voting machines in PA or something we don’t even know.

  47. Upstairs-Dog-5577 Avatar

Probably true. Twitter/x was good for Trump.

  48. spacejoint Avatar

Elon Manipulating Twitter is a regret for him now.

  49. Certain_Bother_2044 Avatar

Trump implied pretty directly that elon rigged the electronic voting results in pennsylvania for him. People seem to generally accept it is plausible.

Follow elons doge dorks and see how many of them start dying in coding accidents.

  50. Far_Concern_8713 Avatar

He apparently dumped a lot of money into the campaign.
This is interesting- two Wannabe Kings of the World duking it out.

  51. jab904 Avatar

He definitely helped make it happen, no question. The extent to which is hard to quantify. He said he donated however many millions of dollars to the campaign (and then there’s the question of vote manipulation in PA that was alluded to), but a significant chunk of that influence was obviously how he used Twitter to promote Trump on a variety of levels — algorithmically, of course, but also restoring Trump’s account along with other far right influencers that had previously been banned, hosting Trump for an interview in Spaces, etc.

  52. BRUISE_WILLIS Avatar

at some point the hens will come home to roost. the level of government debt, executive mismanagement, alienating allies, ignoring the majority of Americans is inevitably pointing to a political correction. when that happens, all of these bombasts, their enablers, and relatives will get paraded in front of congress and courts.

it will be this way because the alternative would threaten the continuation of the American way of life. Your average American can only stay disillusioned for so long before they demand change. The broader political parties in the US will have to face the choice between the appearance of holding these iconoclasts to account or losing their duopoly. Their decision will be clear.

in a sense, the MAGA movement has harvested the frustration of the average American. things have gotten demonstrably worse for the most reasonable of these people (i.e. the ones that aren’t just doing it to “own the libs”). not all of them want to spite the face with nose removal; they’re just regular folks who’s disillusionment has been noticed and patronized by the far right. eventually enough will recognize the incompetence and come to their senses.

  53. Eskidox Avatar

That a recount would be 100% justified..

  54. Guilty_Application14 Avatar

Well, the $200 million-plus in funding Muskrat provided probably did help some.

  55. TinyEnd9435 Avatar

Nothing to think about because it’s true.

  56. Jorost Avatar

It’s probably true. In an election as close as 2024, a change in almost any factor could potentially have changed the outcome.

  57. Adventurous_Row3305 Avatar

I’ll just grab my popcorn and watch the feud escalate.

  58. CDNGooner1 Avatar

Trump said it a couple months ago.

  59. pattperin Avatar

I mean he donated over 200 million to the campaign and likely helped Trump swing some voters over to him that were on the fence but liked Elon. Especially voters who had previously voted Democrat but had some gripes

  60. Fun_in_Space Avatar

I thought everyone knew that. He put millions into the PA election and that can make all the difference. This is what the Occupy Wall Street movement was about – election reform so that billionaires can’t buy elections. Republicans made this possible. Citizens United made it even easier.

  61. mountednoble99 Avatar

    No shit Sherlock

  62. megacia Avatar

    Charge him criminally.

  63. Double-Award-4190 Avatar

In one of his Tweets, Mr Musk projected the makeup of the House and Senate if he had not been involved in campaign spending. I tend to believe him.

  64. TheAlbrecht2418 Avatar

Said the quiet part out loud, that the presidency can be bought.

  65. 3nails4holes Avatar

    No honor among thieves.

  66. Normal-While917 Avatar

Assumed there was involvement from the start, so no surprise.

  67. jjj2576 Avatar

Tell me more, Elon. Tell me more.

  68. jalapinyobidness Avatar

That there needs to be a cap on the financial contribution of any individual person. Writing lottery style million dollar checks to get people to vote is an affront to democracy.

Replace Trump with Harris and Musk with Soros and see how rabidly republicans defend this idea.

  69. MeepleMerson Avatar

Vladimir Putin has made a similar claim. I don’t doubt that they both at least helped. Both expended considerable money and influence to support the campaign. The Chinese communist party also helped, transferring billions to him through the $DJI buyout. I don’t think any of those big players can legitimately claim to be solely responsible, though without their combined efforts (and others that spent millions), I don’t expect he’d have won.

  70. APraxisPanda Avatar

I’m so, so increadiblely happy. My two least favorite people are fighting! I don’t think Elon is wrong to claim that he won Trump the presidency either- he gave Trump some pretty big boosts, especially towards the end where it was most important (and he is loosing billions of dollars as a result). I’d go so far as to say Elon committed so hard to Trump, that if Trump lost there was actually some potential that Elon could’ve gotten in some trouble for some of his more unethical contributions such as the lotto he ran.

That said, I’ve been following this whole feud closely. Interestingly, it all started when Elon failed to win in Wisconsin. What Wisconsin showed was the Musk throwing money into the race wasn’t actually helpful since people really hated seeing his involvement in local elections. That said, the power to sway local elections was a big draw that Trump wanted this alliance for, so when it turned out that Elons involvement hurt more than helped, Trump put Elon on the backseat. Then Elons popularity tanked, and Trump pretty much completely pivoted away from him.

I do honestly believe that if Elon won Wisconsin, EV would’ve been on the “Big Beautiful Bill”.

Obviously Elon claims that he doesn’t like the bill because it doesn’t do enough cuts. But I think Elon is being dishonest when he claims that. It’s all about EV subsidies. So what happened next was that after Elon started yapping about how much he hates the bill- Trump responded by ditching Elons suggestion for a Nasa appointee. It’s important to remember that this bill is Trumps baby- he believes his legacy will rest on this bill, so for Elon to publicly denounce it, and attack it as an “over-spending bill” hit Trump a bit personally to the point where Trump even said “I wish he would attack me, not the bill”. I think it’s very important to point out that Elon has been having shouting matches with Trumps admin since Wisconsin as well, and he also has begun appearing with a bruse on his eye. He claims he told his kid to punch him, but nobody honestly believes this- I do sincearly believe he got punched.

In the same interview, Trump pointed out that he offered Elon makup for his bruse, and I think this was a bit of a silent attack on him. Something triggered Elon to “drop the Epstine” bomb on Trump, and I think this remark is what did it. I think a big part of why this is so personal to Elon is the fact that Elon is bleeding money right now. He lost 150 billion dollars just yesterday alone as a result of this feud- but honestly this is a common trend for how the past few months are going for him. Tesla is very close to dropping him as a key man and I can complete understand why Elon feels his contribution to Trump was under appreciated. He tanked his own image and got snubbed for it in a major way.

  71. Reasonable_Base9537 Avatar

Without Elon’s money, the race is probably much narrower although I think Trump still wins. His money bought quite a bit of election support in the form of ads, paid canvassers, paid call banks, etc. This current situation is just devolving into a silly childish fight. I’m waiting for Elon to post, “Trump is mean and I hate him and he’s not invited to my birthday party!”

  72. Momentofclarity_2022 Avatar
  73. sayrahnotsorry Avatar

We all knew that already and it’s very sad but very true. I’m just waiting for a bigger confession about how he maybe did this.

  74. daminiskos0309 Avatar

Brave of Elon to take all that blame on himself

  75. Altruistic-Produce66 Avatar

It’s his non clever way of admitting that he rigged the voting machines. Because as stated before he knows those machines very well.

  76. Friendlyvoices Avatar

Elon was a 3rd of Trump’s total election spend as well as the center of the misinformation compaign that enabled Republicans to lie with impunity. I’d say his impact was quite large.

  77. NiceCunt91 Avatar

I mean we all knew that already didn’t we?

  78. TheManSaidSo Avatar

It’s true and Elon paid pennies 2 hundred a d something million is pennies for the information that Elon gained. That information will be valuable for years to come.

Truthfully I think they’re both Putin’s bitch anyway. Putin’s the one who’s really calling the shots anyway.

  79. Grumpy_Old_One Avatar
  80. Other_Log_1996 Avatar

Sounds like he’s admitting he rigged the election.

  81. Dense_Ease_1489 Avatar

That krasnov’s gonna remain president in spite of him from now on?

  82. InspectionNeat5964 Avatar

I think he did more than buy the election. DOGE goes in and cracks open the decades old systems, prepared. There were 4 years, far more than enough to rig software driven voting machines. The felon has nothing to say about hacking computer voting machines, just attacks on federal employees sorting and delivering mail. The people will feel betrayed in growing numbers. The terrorist cell think tanks are the enemy within.

  83. gohokies06231988 Avatar

    It’s kinda true

  84. heelspider Avatar

Still not as true as James Comey saying it.

  85. XOXITOX Avatar

The Koch brothers got so many people elected and never acted like this.

  86. theclash06013 Avatar

I thought that was pretty obvious, without any kind of conspiracy. Musk purchased one of the largest social media platforms on the planet and used it to promote his politics (and Trump’s). Twitter apparently had over 100 million monthly users in the USA, that’s almost 30% of the population. He additionally used the information he had from Twitter to target voters precisely and spent $250 million on getting Trump elected.

So the question we’re really asking is “is it possible that a combination of Twitter, micro targeting of voters, and $250 million in spending swung around 100,000 voters total across 3 or 4 states?” to which the answer is obviously yes.

Because of the electoral college every election in America is close. The 2020 election was decided by around 90,000 votes in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Georgia even though Joe Biden got 7 million more votes nationwide. This makes us particularly vulnerable to things like Musk’s influence because you only need to target a small number of voters in a small area. From around 1992 to 2012 more money was spent on 50,000 Cuban-American voters in Miami than on California, New York, and Texas combined.

  87. solidtangent Avatar

Duh. Trump told everyone the election was rigged but no one wanted to listen. He couldn’t have done it without starlink.

  88. Same_Lychee5934 Avatar

Living in Vegas/Clark county. Where the vote was reported to show irregularities that indicated the vote was tampered with…. But no investigation? Makes it probably true. The entire state of NV is red. Except this county! It was probably rigged!

  89. JellyfishCivil3323 Avatar

    Elon musk is an asshole.

  90. Comfortable-Catch-20 Avatar

The ability to purchase a politician 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 who would have figured 🥱

  91. SM_83 Avatar

Two narcissistic shit stains arguing about who is the bigger narcissistic shit stain. Couldn’t care less

  92. Thor_2099 Avatar

It’s completely true considering Elon helped him hack the voting machines in key spots. The fact anybody reading this thinks it is a ridiculous conspiracy theory further supports it because that was Trump’s entire point behind crying stolen the past four years. To pretty much make him immune from such claims.

No Elon, no hacks, and his mango ass is in jail right now and not well on his way to being a dictator.

  93. AmbitiousReaction168 Avatar

Considering how incredibly corrupt the US election system is, it’s very possible.

  94. voice_of_Sauron Avatar

Trump didn’t win by a landslide. There are enough people deluded enough to think Musk is a genius that would launch America into a golden age that his endorsement and financial support motivated them to vote for Trump thinking it would be Musk running things while Trump played golf.

  95. whosafeardnotme Avatar

If Trump knows a secret he is quite likely to just blurt it out. He already admitted election fraud, he was so proud of it he couldn’t keep quiet.

In amongst all the lies d misinformation it just gets discounted.

  96. mrbiggbrain Avatar

I mean yeah, that is what happens when the President steps down, the vice president becomes president.

  97. ConversationLarge554 Avatar

So Elon musk admits he bought the presidency…

  98. gerryf19 Avatar

Musk spent 5.7 billion on getting Trump elected. It certainly helped but it is unlikely that was enough to swing the election

I hope we can Stop with the election machine fixing….that just can’t happen. Our election machines are decentralized and not connected to an open network.

    Let us not be MAGA

  99. The-Inquisition Avatar

Well one part is obvious, the funding, the other part is inferred, the hacking

  100. ThePlasticSturgeons Avatar

In the context of providing the money and platform needed to win, it’s undeniably true.

In the context of having somehow directly interfering with the ballots, we’ll never know because no matter how angry he is with Trump, he can never admit to that without incriminating himself.

  101. Mary_Ellen_Katz Avatar

fElon was the money guy. Sadly anyone that could have investigated election interference was shitcanned BY fElon. So, yaknow, who can say.

  102. mydogsnameispoop Avatar

It’s true, Trump had to tap into his resources to get the victory.

Back when this all started a lot of redditors mentioned that trump’s team would tire of musk and kick him out in a month or so, surprised it took this long

  103. WeaponexT Avatar

    I think he changed votes

Trump is president because The Democrats wanted him to be president.

  115. TheTige Avatar

He sunk over $250 Million into Trump’s campaign. I think it’s one of the few reasonable statements Musk has made.

  116. HRA42 Avatar

  117. JamieAubrey Avatar

So he’s saying he rigged the election ?

  118. GirlieSquirlie Avatar

Some of us already knew this and those that didn’t probably don’t care. I have no confidence that anything will happen from any of this to change or repair the damage already done so it’s just theater of the absurd.

  119. Useful-Employee9605 Avatar

I think Elon’s support helped Trump win.

  120. canuck47 Avatar

Musk and Trump feuding? I did NAZI that coming!

  121. Milesray12 Avatar

    He’s objectively right.

If Elon didn’t bend the entire Twitter algorithm to push multiple Russian lies about Democrats and obscure the truth about the abhorrent Republican behavior to millions of Americans, Trump would not have won.

  122. MPaulina Avatar

This is a confession, not a brag

  123. TreeofPZ Avatar

Well he is the reason. We all know that. He literally bribed people to vote for that loser.

  124. peoplesuckinthe305 Avatar

Based on the tweet or the X? I have thoughts.

Anybody with critical thinking skills would see that and say like wow that’s oddly specific, you’re saying the senate would be republican 51-49? How do you know this information? And then put together all the other info that we already know.

The rest of the folks (the non critical thinkers aka MAGA and non voters) probably shrugged it off as BS, the bros trolling, or a lie.

That’s why we’re in this shit show. Because there are far more idiots than critical thinkers and the idiots are a lot louder and somehow more assertive, even though they are wrong. I’d say to make it make sense, but you can’t.

  125. Lupus76 Avatar
    1. It’s true.

Another admission that the election was rigged and that president taco is occupying the office illegitimately.

  128. Haunting-Comb-9723 Avatar

My thought is that we are a few short steps from musk admitting he rigged the election results

  129. _Gargantua Avatar

Casually admitting to helping a pedophile win the election is a masterful gambit

  130. Searchlights Avatar

I think that it lends creedance to theories surrounding irregular voting results in targeted precincts. It also dovetails with Trump’s loose lipped comments about Elon’s technological involvement in the election.

It’s not proof of any conspiracy or crime but it sure fuels that fire.

  131. kvngk3n Avatar

    He’s not lying

  132. Successful-Duck-367 Avatar

You made him the president? Deal with all the policies he signs in. Yes, even those that hurt your business.

It’s very true. If he couldn’t steal the election then he would get Elon to buy it for him.

  134. Emergency_Property_2 Avatar

If there’s a “conspiracy theory” that wouldn’t surprise me if it were true, it would be the about Elmo rigging the election.

  135. LuluMcGu Avatar
