I saw a meme recently about new dads being sorted into DeWalt, Ryobi, Milwaukee, or Makita, and I’m wondering what you guys have on your shelves. Maybe I’ve heard of it, maybe I haven’t.

Here in Norway, the four you mentioned are common (maybe not so much Milwaukee), as well as Bosch and Black & Decker.
Apart from Makita it’s mostly German brands: Bosch, Einhell, Metabo
Dewalt, Milwaukee, Makita, Bosch (blue Bosch being better than green Bosch), Ryobi.
Also Hilti. Nowhere near as common, but it’s what your boss buys if they actually care. Too expensive for the house though.
All the ones you mentioned, and then Bosch, Bahco, Hilti, Stihl, and then random cheaper stuff sold by the local hardware stores under their own brands.
Maktia is the everyman brand and probably the most common.
On my shelves are Bosch Professional 12V, HiKOKI and Einhell 18V. And for gardening Stiga 48V.
Common brands in the Netherlands: Bosch DIY, Bosch Professional, Einhell, Worx, Metabo, HiKOKI, Skil, Stiga, Stihl, B+D, Makita and some more. More exclusive; Festool, Hilti, Fein, Mafell.
Mainly Bosche. but also Footprint, Thor, Crown, Monument and King Dick.
EDIT: People dont believe King Dick exists. Here it is
As a Swede I have:
Bosch, Ryobi, DeWalt
And local brands meec and Biltema
Metabo Bosch Einhell Dewalt Stanley Black and Decker pretty every brand is available.
Yeah, that meme works for the UK as we have those 4 brands here, plus:
Black and Decker, Einhell, Erbauer, Bosch, Draper, Festool, Sealey, JCB, Stanley, Worx, Metabo.
Hitachi sell things under their new “Hikoki” brand.
If I look on the B&Q website (our biggest DIY / home improvement store), they have most of those brands, a few smaller brands plus their own brand, MacAllister.
If you look to something else like lawnmowers there are brands like Mountfield, Flymo, Hyundai, McGregor, Spear and Jackson, and Atco.
You’ve heard of Aldi, the cheap German Supermarket? They have a rival store called Lidl. Well, Lidl have their own tool brand called Parkside. Good enough for occasional use, I think.
In Europe I’d guess the Aldi (Workzone) & Lidl (Parkside) house brands are the most common as they are the cheapest.
I think nearly all brands are made in the Far East.
Unless you are earning a living, these cheaper brands are perfectly adequate for home DIY.
I have both and my neighbour (a builder) has bought a few too.
Bosch, Einhell, Makita. Recently Parkside.
Also local brand (built in China) Villager.
For a small island, Cyprus has a very good selection of power tools. We get all the major brands and then some:
Black & Decker, Powerplus, Bosch, Einhell, Ingco, Stanley, Makita, DeWalt, Ryobi, Milwaukee, Parkside, AEG, Hilti, Practyl, Stayer, Metabo, FF Group, Holzmann etc
Bosch, Black and Decker, Dewalt, Milwaukee, Makita, Ryobi and Stihl
I’m in charge of tools and equipment in general in a construction company and I have total freedom regarding which brands we use. I gave Hilti a chance, but it’s not as good as it used to be and the price is too high for what you get. So I chose Makita for power tools and Stihl for chainsaws.
In Czech Republic I have thus far encountered: Bosch, DeWalt, Makita, Parkside, Husqvarna, Narex (local)
Ryobi is used by people who need to occasionally fix something.
Hilti is used by people who use those tools to make a living.
