David Attenborough. Last week I was watching one of his nature shows while doing laundry and caught myself getting drowsy just from his voice. Imagine him narrating Little Red Riding Hood like it’s a wildlife documentary.
Just want to say, if any of you are in the UK or otherwise have access to BBC iPlayer then find CBeebeies Bedtime Stories. It is exactly this. Obviously it’s biased towards UK celebs but there’s some US celebs too.
Edit: Link to the page or it’s on Youtube (may be region-locked, no idea)
Already passed and does tell my bedtime stories nightly – Peter Thomas, secondly Robert Stack.
Still living- for sure Morgan Freeman.
James Earl Jones would have been good too.
Except I’d never be able to sleep. I’d just sit up in bed, bouncing in place, clapping my hands and making dolphin noises. It would be very embarrassing.
just wanted to point out that there’s an app that has “sleep stories” (aka bedtime stories written in an especially soothing way) that are read by a wide variety of people, including many that have been mentioned here!
the app is called Calm, and my favorite “stories” are read by Matthew McConaughey, Stephen Fry, Jerome Flynn, and Erik Braa
My very first thought was Morgan Freeman. And then I saw that name has already been answered a couple of times, so I tried to think of a different name to add to the mix…but, once you hear Morgan Freeman’s voice in your head, it just can’t be outdone. Morgan for the win!
Missed my chances, because they’re both gone but my picks would be Barry White or Sean Connery. I would be ecstatic if either of them would read me the phone book 😊
Comments
Pedro Pascal would be awesome!

James Earl Jones narrates everything
Stephen Fry
Noam Chomsky without hesitation
Bob Ross. I’d be out like a light in five minutes.
Matthew Mcfadyen. He can read a grocery list as my bedtime story if he likes.
Morgan Freeman, David Attenborough, James Earl Jones, in that order. Peter Falk could act as a stand-in for any of those three as well.
J.R.R. Tolkien. His voice is the most stately, yet most soporific, ever recorded.
Peter Weller
Benedict Cumberbatch.
Bob Newhart
Britney Spears
Matthew Mcconaughey
Morgan Freeman
Sabrina Carpenter :,) her speaking voice is so soothing lol
Tom Hardy
Bryan Cranston
