Keeping anyone locked up for years in some place (yk, those kidnapping cases I’ve seen on TV when I was younger)
Bullying someone untill they commit suicide
Mass murder
Terrorism
To be honest there isn’t much that deserve death penalties, and these things that I’ve listed would need 100% proof or else you would risk killing someone innocent
But anyways, if they are 100% guilty, then off to hell they go, we don’t need to keep them alive in a cell for years, waste of space imo
I dont think the state should hold the right to execute a human being period, that being said, we live in the real world and if it has to be someone, I suppose rapists, child abusers, and pedophiles wouldn’t be missed very much
Being a MAP (minor-attracted “person”), with a possible exception if you immediately seek professional help. MAP refers to adults btw, not minors themselves. So basically pedophiles, but without keyboard warriors going “erm ackshually he’s not a pedophile if she’s not prepubescent, stop spreading misinformachion”.
And there is a group of people online that will DEFEND this shit called radqueers (not to be confused with actual queer people).
None, really. I disagree with the DP in principle. I may consider crimes such as using your position of power to cause certain harms like war crimes and things of that nature or crimes against humanity.
Mass murder such as terrorist bombings and mass shootings
Serial killings
Particularly brutal murders that include beheading, dismemberment or rape
Murder of a child
Rape of a child
Carrying out serious war crimes including but not limited to genocide, ethnic cleansing, targeting of non combatants and the use of biological or chemical weapons upon other human beings
None. You can never be sure and death or other capital punishments are irreversible. In Poland we still have in mind the recent story of Tomasz Komenda who was in prison for 18 years because he was convicted of rape and murder of a 15 year old. But recently genetic evidence proved his innocence and possibly police trying to just finish the caee quick without proper care. Imagine if he had been hanged for it.
Sadistic torture murder so not drunken rage bar fight murder (still wrong), but like planned premeditated murder with sadism elements etc.
Child sexual assault/grooming/anything pedo related. Human trafficking. Adult rape/aggravated SA.
Morally, many. But in terms of burden of proof and risk of killing the wrong person under wrongful conviction (of which there are many examples) I do not believe capital punishment should be a thing.
I generally disagree with capital punishment but if we imagine a state with a good government my list would be: CSA, production or distribution of CSAM, rape, serial murder
Wealth hoarding. Not my original idea, but love the proposal that anyone with over $1b net worth gets executed on Jan 1st. (Not here for hot takes in the logistics, it’s a pure, beautiful fantasy)
This weighs on me. I think life in prison, in my mind, would be the worst possible scenario. But I feel like it doesn’t always mean “life”. People get out.
I think the death penalty should not even be on the table unless there is irrefutable, genetic evidence of that person committing the crime. Murder. Pedophilia. Brutal rape. Sexual offenders always reoffend. Unless they are dead.
I also think we should decide on an age for an adult and stick to it. The courts want to try kids (under 18) as adults when they don’t have an adult brain with adult stuff going on and adult decision making skills. I know some actual adults struggling with this. But when someone is the victim, they are a minor (under 18). I guess I don’t understand the rationale of treating an offender as an adult at, say 13, when clearly they aren’t but then treating them as a minor when a victim. I think they should always be considered a minor under 18, no matter the crime. I know this has gone off topic, but it aggravates me that our court system does this. End rant.
Massive fraud type activities. Anything that causes harm to a ton of people, even when it may be relatively minor on a case by case basis. Like IT scammers who target the elderly to gain access to their banks. Those people should be drone striked. Or business executives when their companies cause massive harm like BP or HCA or the Teflon companies who put forever chemicals in the water supply. Or the researcher that fabricated autism research linking it to vaccines for personal profit reasons.
Nothing. Anything somebody does they shouldn’t be punished for, because they don’t choose their actions or intentions or their deepest motives and assigning blame on the premise of not have been able to done anything different doesn’t make sense.
I don’t believe our justice system can be trusted to determine who deserves to live and die with the degree of accuracy I consider necessary for them to wield that power safely. Too many “oops, we convicted the wrong guy” twenty years after sending him to prison. Too much opportunity for people with enough money to ship their enemies off to Chateau d’If.
Death is the easy way out. We need to stop allowing murderers, child molesters, and violent offenders out on parole. Life in prison is worse than death.
ABSOLUTELY FUCKING NONE. With the rates of wrongful convictions, the risk of executing an innocent person is so high.
Besides that, I honestly don’t believe in imprisonment either.
If we defund the police, and dismantle the prison industrial complex, and then donate the TRILLIONS of dollars saved in the US or the billions saved in Australia (where I live), you could solve the cause of 90% of crime, which is poverty.
The majority of prisoners are locked up for non-violent drug or property crimes. Both of these are the direct results of poverty in the majority of cases.
And not only that, but it’s been proven OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN that retributive punishment does not reduce recidivism and the problems that come from it, such as recording felonies on a person’s record thus limiting their employment and housing options actually leads to more people committing subsequent criminal activities after being released from prison.
If we instead switch to rehabilitative punishment, where people are educated and taught life skills and are made to give back to the community as their punishment, they are less likely to offend again.
If we follow Portugal’s lead and decriminalise personal drug use (for all drugs), there is an almost 70% reduction in crime, BBV rates (such as HIV and Hep C) are drastically reduced, overdose rates are drastically reduced, crimes such as theft and robbery are drastically reduced, and if it’s taken another step forward and safe supply like in the UK and Canada is introduced, the government can supply drug users with high quality, unadulterated drugs AND charge tax on them, thus increasing their profits.
If the US follows New Zealand and (most of) Australia’s initiative and decriminalises sex work, it will also reduce the majority of women who are convicted of a crime. It also makes it harder for sex trafficking to happen, because when sex work is illegal, the traffickers can tell their victims “If you give to the cops, you’ll be arrested for being a sex worker”, whereas when it’s decriminalised, a victim goes to the police and they are given support and assistance, and the trafficker gets in trouble. Also, if poverty is reduced, then trafficking is reduced. If sex work is decriminalised, clients can choose to see workers who are willing and happy to do the job OPENLY instead of sneaking around with potential victims.
DEFUND THE COPS!!! DISMANTLE THE PRISONS!!! DECRIMINALISE DRUGS!!! DECRIMINALISE SEX WORK!!!
You know the conclusion of Nuremberg Trials? That there are some actions that are so intrinsically terrible that they run counter to the proper nature of human beings.
Nazis made prisoners in Auschwits carry a 100 pound of sack of salt from one compound, and carry it back. Pointless torture. Piece of malevolent art. Dehumanising a fellow being to a status of a worm or parasite? Making pain an art form?
I think the worst of the worst should suffer in prison for life and see their freedom gets taken away. Especially the radicalized terrorists doesn’t deserve the death penalty because they doesn’t deserve becoming what they consider “martyrs”. Most criminals needs to take the consequences and there shouldn’t be an easy way out. 😡
Anything done maliciously/for profit resulting in the death of an individual regardless of intent.
That would make healthcare CEOs a much hung of the past.
I think personally I think death should be given to criminals who show no remorse and have no respect for human lives.
Apart from the obvious serial killers, people like Joseph Fritzl, or the guy who kept Colleen Stan in the box for 7 yrs. The worst of the worst.
People who literally destroy other people’s lives without killing them, and derive pleasure from it, and continue to live with themselves like they’ve done nothing wrong.
It enrages me to think that these sorts of criminals get to live on taxpayers money when they should be removed from the mortal coil and be given no further attention.
The question pertains to your moral compass. There are many crimes punishable by death, in my opinion and moral barometer. But, my ex-husband was stabbed by a drunk roommate of ours because he thought he was an intruder, and because the knife went into his head and neck at an angle, hey! Misdemeanor assault, out of jail in less than a year.
So I can’t consider what punishments COULD be in the court of law because I have no faith in “justice” in America.
None. Not because I don’t think they are evil, but often the people committing terrible acts are suicidal anyways so by killing them I think you’re giving them an easy out. Having to live the rest of your life in jail is worse tbh. They can’t easily escape the repercussions of their actions.
The state shouldn’t be in charge of who lives and who dies. There will always be someone who is harmed due to such laws as all systems make mistakes for one reason or another If a perfect utopia existed (which it never will), capital punishment wouldn’t be necessary, hence “perfect utopia”. I am a proponent of rehabilitation for everyone, and yes I mean everyone, unless they show a persistent refusal to learn. Capital punishment both robs the victims of justice and the perpetrator of consequences. You cannot learn when you are dead, and vengeance is not true justice.
Personally I don’t think any should be. We shouldn’t kill people. Period. And for those who do are the lowest of the low. The good should not stoop to the level the lowest for any reason.

Depends on who has the authority to kill. Government shouldn’t be able to kill its citizens.
Making or distributing CSAM. getting charged for making and distributing leaves almost no room for error.
None (ideally, I don’t think anyone, especially not the government or justice system, should be trusted with slaughtering people)
Doing grevious harm to or killing first responders while they’re on duty. Especially firefighters, medics etc.

None. You can’t trust the state to get it right every time and if the state kills innocent people it becomes a murderer itself.
