I understand it comes from a rejection of globalist policies but that cannot be a permanent tenet. I was raised conservative, based on the premise of self sovereignty and the right to live life as you see fit, as long as you do no harm to others.
What even do you believe anymore?
Do inalienable rights stop at the border? Do they stop at gender? Do they stop at spirituality?
How can we reconcile new age conservatism with the core tenets of the country were so proud of?
Understand idealism often clashes with reality but at least admit that conservatism has morphed from a objective rejection of authoritarianism to openly supporting the executive branch empowering itself and crippling the tools to check the power
How can we justify the growing evangelical movement influencing our politics?
Dems are fickle and often disconnected from reality, but it seems that they stand for freedom more than MAGA conservatives. Worrying times.

Clasical Liberalism is what American Conservatism seeks to conserve.
I think your mistake here is thinking Trump or MAGA are Conservative. It’s a populist movement. You can’t reconcile “new age conservatism” with the ideology of Conservatism because just like modern American Liberalism and Classical Liberalism, they are detached in all but name and often at odds with each other.
Really this just seems like anoter anti-Trump rant from another left/neocon. The people elected Trump to be their tool to do what both parties have promised for years but never delivered. He’s a BFH because all else has failed for the last 40 years so they figure if he can get the job done we’ll clean the mess up after. Conservatives tend to agree with the goals, just not the process. MAGA is OK with both.

What are you saying here? There are laws in America, you follow them, you are good. No rights have been taken away from any legal, law abiding US citizens, despite the fear mongering Dems would have you believe.

Christianity has been a powerful force in shaping Western civilization for 100’s of years, this is nothing new.
On a side note,
Dems do not stand for freedom even a little. Keep in mind they censored all media to keep you locked up in your house and made you have to take a shot if you wanted to work or go out to eat etc. Thats not freedom, thats oppression and real Authoritarianism , nothing like the freedom that is happening right now.
First of all, there are many different aspects to conservativeism and many different types of conservativism. Some of it might involve some government restriction or Christianity etc while others May not.
But secondly, while I believe you are asking in good faith, it’s hard to respond when you seem to be coming from a position of buying into the basic leftist position which is that conservatives are a bunch of fascist big bad meanies.
I absolutely believe in individual freedom and inalienable rights. But those are rights and freedoms from government or other outward oppression.
Immigrants have every right to personal freedoms if they are here legally. If not, they have every right to be personally free in their own country. And if their country does not give them those freedoms, then they need to rise up and overthrow the government like we did and create a government that does. Or they can try to immigrate here legally.
Deorting illegal immigrants in no way is a violation of their freedoms or rights.
Likewise, people are free to practice whatever gender or sexuality they wish, as long as they aren’t demanding that we buy into their delusion, that we change the way we speak to suit them, that we tell our kids that whatever they think is okay, or to try to indoctrinate our kids through the school or anywhere else.
People have a right to teach their kids whatever they want. They don’t have a right to teach my kids or whatever they want, nor do they have the right to give my children books that I find objectionable.
What else you got? People on the left are fine as long as they reserve their ideas for their own personal lives and not try to harness the power of government to force their idea on other people, or to redistribute money by taking people’s harder money and giving it to someone else. Or flout the law by allowing illegal immigrants to enter the country or aiding and abetting them.
Conservatism is a big tent. There’s a lot of diversity of thought. Some are more focused on social issues like abortion or trans issues. Some are more economic conservatives and want lower taxes and supply side policies. Some are neoconservatives and want a big US presence internationally. Some are isolationists.
