Besides the obvious therapy, was there a book, a specific journal, or something you bought that helped you on the healing journey?
What did you do to heal yourself?

I highly recommend the book “recovery of your inner child” by; Lucia Capacchione
it has helped me heal my inner child which has helped me heal my adult self
Actually using the journal and practicing compassion with myself in addition to therapy were the biggest. Oh, and getting arrested (lmao) / sober helped a ton.
In terms of buying… eventually deciding to treat myself to a massage at a holistic wellness spa once a month for a year and also following my favorite band as they toured for a handful for shows to explore cities on solo adventures and staying in nice hotels / airBnBs was huge for my spirit and self love healing.
Waiting
Being around people who genuinely cared about each other was what did it. The movie Matilda really helped though, having the ending be the Wormwoods let Miss Honey adopt Matilda because she’d be happier with her than them made me realize I could be with the family that cared about me rather than the one that didn’t just because we were blood related.
I challenge myself to do something I never thought I would do. It’s empowering.
Im still in the process but I started with reflecting what I really want. I quit my really toxic job, went back to school and I went on a solo adventure for a few days. Nearing the end of my solo travel, I wrote a letter to my younger self about how life is going and gave my younger self advice that I wish I heard.
Blocked my ex and forgot about him.
